Governments, mainstream media outlets and other malevolent groups intentionally spread fake news to manipulate public opinion, create division, and promote their own agenda.

Well, this massively set up story may not have a tragic intent behind it, and it surely does not have the same impact as other falsehoods.
But I chose to discuss it because it is an excellent illustration of how fake news can proliferate to a point where it's no longer doubtful

🧵Especially in recent months, I’ve seen an uptick of men claiming that their ex wives were wrong for filing for divorce against them, “she was the one who filed” is a common complaint as if who files first indicates who was most guilty.
Studies show that women are more likely to file for divorce but their reasons often point to the other party having broke the actual marriage vows. She may file when the situation gets bad enough that she cannot or will not submit to mistreatment.
We know that it takes two people to make a marriage work, but in cases of abuse, it only takes one person to destroy it.

Rishis, our shastras do not recommend divorce, yes, but in many cases involving children, esp.if the spouse has a psychopathic character, a legal document becomes necessary.
And to get that document, petitioners go through literal hell.

Kerala High Court recently dismissed a woman's appeal against #divorce decree noting that the #husband had been able to prove that he was treated with such cruelty that he had feared for his life.
The woman had alleged that she had been forced to leave her marital home, however, the husband had contended that on the contrary, she had deserted him as she had mental issues and used to exhibit excessive anger since the inception of marriage.
The husband had also alleged that she even used to threaten to kill him during his sleep. He had said that when he asked her to take treatment for her mental issues, she always denied pursuing proper medication.

#Divorce is always hard and painful. Even for those who have every reason to split. So no, please don't celebrate. It's a death. Of a relationship. Of hope. Of trust. Respect the institution. Respect the people in it. Respect those who give up. Don't make it about you.
It's a slippery slope for us Indians. We are still very kids-centric, extended family, log Kya kahenge ..... So many just drag relationships out of inertia or just comfort. That's not a marriage. It's just two people sharing the same address.
The only time it's a clear-cut decision is when there is violence, impotence, incompatibility. But there are other things. Maybe with new age tech and shallow and consistent need for attention and validation, the maturity of people is plummeting.
