SCOOP: Alan Dershowitz lobbied Donald Trump to preemptively pardon Ghislaine Maxwell after speaking to her family

Ian Maxwell tells me: “There was one phone call between Dershowitz and a family member”

“The generic issue of pardons was touched on” 1/4
thetimes.co.uk/article/8b6cde…
Dershowitz was Epstein’s lawyer and represented Trump during impeachment trial.

He is also accused of abuse by Virginia Guiffre: allegations he denies

During Trump’s last days in office he successfully persuaded president to pardon around a dozen clients, many of them paying
The Maxwell family did not pay Dershowitz

Nor, they say, they even ask him to raise the matter: if he did so after call, that was his idea

In Michael Wolff’s book, Landslide, Trump is reported to have taken sudden interest in Maxwell case during the end of his presidency
Trump allegedly said: “Has she said anything about me? Is she going to talk? Will she roll on anybody?”

But president ultimately gave more time to idea of self-pardon and granting pardons to others

Asked about Maxwell, Trump previously said: “I just wish her well, frankly” 4/4

Trade Union & Labour Party Liaison Organisation (TULO) meeting was "BAD": "nobody" defended Starmer, even moderate unions look uncertain
Am told that Starmer claimed he was trying to find a consensus, but wouldn’t actually address the issues. He was instead "bollocked"
Source says unions "one by one" claimed they hadn't been consulted by leader's office ahead of reforms, with even head of TULO saying they weren't involved in discussions...

EXC: David Cameron claimed £113,000 of taxpayers money to run his private office last year — the highest to date.

He earned $1m as a lobbyist for Greensill over the same period.

His taxpayer funded spokesman didn't acknowledge requests for comment

thetimes.co.uk/article/16b396…
Cameron claimed the money as part of his "public duty cost allowance", which assists PMs still active in public life

But in the year up to 31 March 2021, he kept a low profile and his taxpayer-funded office ignored questions on Greensill

Unclear what the money was spent on

Elsewhere in the Cabinet Office annual report:

Mark Sedwill's remuneration last year totalled *£530,000* - incl severance payments and previously undisclosed "compensation in lieu of notice"

Former cabinet secretary forced out by PM and Cummings, hence extraordinary payoff
