A) Top GOPer on Hse Admin Cmte Davis on Fox on Late Show arrests on Capitol Hill: We need an investigation. We need to make sure we understand who in their offices brought these individuals in...They were..seen banging on the doors of..Kevin McCarthy’s office, Jim Jordan’s office
B) Davis: It’s just so ironic that the 1/6 committee, which is just a political circus, they’re impugning my colleague Mr. Loudermilk for taking people on a tour of the House office buildings who were there on January 5th.
C) Davis: It’s ironic that Democrat staffers, not even members of Congress, Democrat staffers who work for Adam Schiff and others – they’re the ones who brought people in, that ended up getting arrested by Capitol police. That’s saying something.
1) Stephen olbert Team Was Denied Press Credentials. Was Let Into Longworth Later In the Day by aide to Dem MA Rep Auchincloss
2) A little more meat on the bone about the seven persons associated with The Late Show With Stephen Colbert who were arrested by US Capitol Police for unlawful entry into the Longworth House Office Building.
3) Fox is told the team tried weeks ago to get credentials for the 1/6 committee hearings. The House Radio/TV Gallery rejected the request from the Colbert team out of hand because they are not “news.”
1) GOP MT Rep Rosendale on Fox on storms: We still have snowpack that is melting and subject to have some additional severe rainstorms at any time, which would actually make this worse..this is going to have a large economic impact for quite some time
2) Rosendale: We're anticipating that Yellowstone Park is going to be closed for a while and only a 50% capacity for some time going into the future.
3) Rosendale on Gov Gianforte’s absence: Governor Gianforte has been in touch with the exact same county officials, FEMA and the Congressional delegation..I personally have been in touch with them for the last several days.
A) 1/6 cmte chair Thompson: Donald Trump wanted Mike Pence to do something no other Vice President has ever done. The former President wanted Pence to reject the votes and either declare Trump the winner or send the votes back to the states to be counted again.
B) Thompson: Mike Pence said no.
He resisted the pressure. He knew it was illegal. He knew it was wrong.
We’re fortunate for Mr. Pence’s courage on January 6th. Our democracy came dangerously close to catastrophe.
C) Thompson: That courage put him in tremendous danger. When Mike Pence made it clear that he wouldn’t give in to Donald Trump’s scheme, Donald Trump turned the mob on him… a mob that was chanting “Hang Mike Pence”… a mob that had built a hangman’s gallows
A) Schumer: In Nevada, for instance, Secretary of State candidate Jim Marchant has said that if he had been in office in 2020, he would not have certified Joe Biden’s victory. That is dangerous stuff.
B) Schumer: America needs to be watching what is happening in states like New Mexico and Nevada, because if we are not careful it will be a preview of greater horrors to come.
C) Schumer: It’s not a partisan argument: it is simply about democracy versus authoritarianism. Many of the things said by some of these office holders who won were said by people who then led their country to authoritarian regimes.
1) The Hitchhiker’s Guide To the Role the Vice President Plays When Certifying the Electoral College. The 1/6 committee will lay out a case about the pressure campaign applied to former Vice President Mike Pence to tilt the election in favor of former President Trump.
2) The scheme assembled by attorney John Eastman was to convince Pence to reject electoral vote from states in question as he presided over the Joint Session.
3) Pence has indicated that he doubted he had any agility in that circumstance – especially after seeking counsel from former Indiana senator & former Vice President Dan Quayle.
