Jaw-dropping satellite imagery of the volcanic eruption in Tonga.


The above view is from Himawari-8, this view below is a bit higher resolution via GOES-17.

Truly incredible imagery.

Not surprisingly, lightning detected too.

Blue dots on paused frame represent strikes picked up by GOES-17.

The imagery of this eruption is something to behold.

Different perspective shows the waves propagating outward from the eruption.
