ICYMI: It's official. Dave Colson (linkedin.com/in/colsondavid/) a jnr dev, has taken over the IFCS system from John Pritchett who, after working on it since 2013, just exited the project.

Don't worry though, I'm pretty sure everything is fine.

In case you were wondering what the furor is about, and why it's important, read my article from last week.

Meanwhile, CIG released Star Citizen 3.2 last week.

As I previously reported - and now confirmed - the minor performance boost is due to them not only disabling some NPC entities, but also reducing some LOD entities, moving IFCS to a background (not real-time) to background etc
As devs, we tend to break things even as we try to fix other things. And when it comes to performance, disabling features, while removing content, is par for the course. But it's not a sustainable plan because you have to restore everything you disabled - or your game suffers.
So if they can't improve on the performance, that means less NPC units to interact with, missing content that never gets restored etc.

For a game that's 6 yrs in dev, and for which not even 1/10th of the content exists, this is another VERY BAD sign that the project is FUBAR.
They still don't even have planets in the game, let alone 100 star systems promised. And no capital ships. And ALL that content is yet to be implemented - assuming they actually finish (they won't) the game in the next 10+ years (my last prediction).
Amid all that, 6yrs later, they have already started disabling and/or removing content in Alpha 3.2.

But I'm sure everything is fine though. So, by all means whales should keep giving them money because it will make the next upcoming reveal that much more hilarious.

Just wait.
I can't wait to login to the game in a future patch, only to find that Miles is no longer sitting at a table with a mug. Instead, he's standing - because they took away all his props in a bid to boost performance.

Yes - it always starts as a joke.
Oh, I forgot to include a link to JP's write-up of the IFCS design which he created and maintained since 2013.

A jnr dev is totally going to adopt and improve on that. Yeah. Totally. LOL!!
