I've said this out loud several times to people I know irl so: Don't compare yourself to where people in their 60s/70s/80s were when they were our age. The entirety of the world and economy has changed-a lot. We are not the same & can & SHOULD not measure our lives against theirs
So many people I know are depressed they can't buy the sort of house their parents could. They can't save the money their parents did. The economy is not the same. Don't buy into the lies that the economy is "good." If you're not RICH now, you're nothing. We simply have to fight.
The American dream was sold to us (some of us) as being able to do better than our parents, and for us (some of), that's no longer reasonably possible. It's not our faults and we shouldn't internalize it as a failure.
