Pipe bombs/mail bombs have often been the tactic of leftists/anarchists/environmentalist. Galleanisti, leftist/anarchists from 1919-20 used similar tactics targeting govt officials they disagreed with leading to the Palmer Raids which led to the creation of the ACLU.
During the 1960s & early 1970s groups like the Weather Underground used similar techniques. Bill Ayers is still an unapologetic member/founder of that group.
The Unabomber was a radical environmentalist that used mail bombs to target people to spread fear and get his manifest, Industrial Society and Its Future, published which led to him being caught.

The individuals in these studies were the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) and the Animal Liberation Front (ALF). Over 42% of incidents resulted in substantial damage. Private homes were the primary target at 22.6%. Eco-terrorism has been rising since the 1990s.

This person will be caught and likely they will be caught sooner rather than later. Law enforcement has far better tools for catching people like this that they didn't have years ago. I don't believe this is a false flag.
This is an individual or group that thinks they are doing something to aid one side or the other. They suffer from a John Wilkes Booth type of syndrome thinking they're doing something heroic, when in reality they are doing more harm to their own cause or what they believe in.
Regardless if the person is right or left, they are still a terrorist. Even if no bomb detonates, even if every single bomb was a fake, they are still committing an act of terrorism, even if they turned out to be a leftist.
The media blames this on rhetoric, but politicians have been calling each other names since the beginning of the Republic. People have called the media the enemy for decades, Trump did not start that. Most comments by politicians are figuratively, not literally.
