Trump wants to hand over
Fethullah Gulen, exiled Turkish dissident & current US resident, to Turkey, likely to be murdered.

They want Turkey to lay off the Saudis for murdering another US resident. 💵

Life is cheap in the GOP’s America. Who cares if you’re rich, right?
The White House is looking for ways to remove an enemy of Turkish President Recep Erdogan from the U.S. in order to placate Turkey over the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Handing over Gulen to the Turks has been discussed by the Trump admin since their transition. Mike Flynn was reportedly offered $15m to help “extradite” Gulen.

Despite his lies, Trump’s finances are heavily tied with Saudi Arabia.

In the ‘90’s, when his business empire was failing, he took heavy cash infusions from deals with Saudi officials.

The Trump admin cut the advertising budget for the ACA by 90%.

FOIA obtained emails show this was knowingly designed to harm enrollment, and they repeatedly lied about that fact.

Dem House oversight puts an end to the sabotage. Remember what they did when they had the power.
On a call w/ reporters, in response to whether HHS had studied the efficacy of advertising, an official said, “We haven’t done a specific study related to the public awareness of the program.”

It was a lie. They had, & knew it would harm enrollment.

Now that Dems have won House oversight, she’s promoting enrollment. Oversight stops the sabotage.

Close friend just asked that I further explain the linkage between #Turkey ‘s Economic polices and the exchange rate. Why is the Lira falling?

The reason is that the 16% inflation rate is too high and requires higher interest rates to compensate savers/investors ==>more
2-Note that Lira’s fall has come after #Turkey achieved credit fueled 7.4% economic growth (one of fastest amongst G20). Higher growth brought more imports (all energy imported) and added to the persistently large trade/current account deficits. Such Deficits have to be funded
3-Funding need of #Turkey to pay for this trade/current account deficit is estimated at $230 Billion per year. This is what happens when you persistently import more than you expert. Foreigners suffering from low rates in G3 & in search of higher returns funded this deficit

The US-Turkey alliance is rooted in the Truman Doctrine backed by significant US military and development assistance in the late 1940s-1950s designed to keep Turkey out of the Soviet sphere, and enshrined by Turkey joining NATO in 1952 alongside Greece. 2/24
Put crudely, Turkey joined up with the US and NATO because of the centuries-old threat posed by the Russian (then Soviet) military and the need to keep economic and military parity with rival Greece. It wasn't out of admiration or shared values. 3/24

#Turkey should heed Pompeo and release Andrew Brunson. It's wrong; the case has been hopelessly tainted with politics. It's also self-defeating. Holding him hits on a raw nerve in the U.S. and makes achieving Ankara's own objectives more difficult.

Turkey's suggestion that Andrew Brunson is being held as a hostage to be traded for Fethullah Gulen has exacerbated what was already a politicized prosecution. It was an aggressively stupid thing to do: inter alia, strikes at a part of American politics that Trump cannot ignore.
