Science: what can we do?
Social Science: what will be the consequences if we do it?
Humanities: given that, should we do it?
Science: I can’t hear you above the roar of all the grant money fuck it I am doing it.
There are just way too many scientists (#NotAll! Love you science!!) who would’ve been super convinced that phrenology was the way to go in the 19th century, and argued for eugenics in the early 20th.

But never stop to think about what that reveals about their epistemology.
I don’t know what the phrenology is today (it’s evopsych. We all know). But our new eugenic age scares me all the time. #OurGattacaFuture
I love science. Science is amazing. I think the lack of respect for the epistemological function of the humanities among our STEM discourse is a real problem and harms people. And Bioethics ain't cutting it alone.
And I reserve the right to tweet tongue-in-cheek remarks about significant things that would require 2000 words to write with nuance and sophistication because THIS AINT THAT PLATFORM.
Meanwhile, before you #NotAll me, please read this thread and go fix @nature -

And Harvard.
