Massachusetts is suing ICE for making arrests at courthouses while people leave hearings or sit in waiting rooms — sometimes violently.

It says this creates a "chilling effect" that blocks many immigrants from seeking justice over issues like unfair labor and domestic violence.
Last week, a Massachusetts judge and court officer were indicted for allegedly helping an immigrant man leave the courtroom through the backdoor to evade an ICE agent waiting to arrest him in the lobby.

They face up to 20 years in prison for obstruction of justice.
Immigrant survivors of abuse are less likely to seek justice because of increased ICE presence at courts under President Trump, says an @ACLU survey:

- Domestic violence, human trafficking harder to investigate
- Immigrant survivors less likely to help in investigations
