Clothing is important. It can tell you a lot about a world. It can also TOTALLY throw your readers out of a story. It's useful to think about things like "how rare is this fabric?" and "what technology is used to weave/knit this?"
"Does using this fabric for sails/riding gear/a jungle make sense?"

"Would this character have access to these clothes?"

"What does this character's access (or lack) say about them?"

"What does this character's comfort with these clothes (or discomfort) say?"
Also, Mary is awesome.
For example, in my novel backstrap weaving is the primary weaving in the more remote towns because it's portable. In the big city there are a version of semi-automated jacquard looms that dominate production.
