The leaders of the Congress Party were willingly pledging "deep and unswerving loyalty to the British Crown" while their progeny mock Savarkar, who asked for purna swaraj much before they dared, for routine petitions under torture. 🙄

Congress loyalist Gokhale was the critics of Savarkar. Savarkar wanted real freedom, Gokhale wanted to beg, plead and petition British masters.
Savarkar was dangerous, he got the torture of kala paani. Congress collaborators got VIP jails to pen "Discovery of India."
Congress—"We speak English now. Won't you let us rule over the brown natives a little bit now, please massah." That was their begging for "limited self rule." In 1947, British, scared by armed rebellion (not "ahimsa") transferred power to English elite.
Yes, the Congress party was created by A O Hume to act as a safety valve to "manage" Indians so their freedom aspirations could be kept in check. It consistently sided with the British Empire over native revolutionaries who sought to overthrow their rule.

The best parallel to the Congress party is what are describe as "house slaves" in America. The relation of the Congress English elite to the British Empire is exactly like this—this is why Gandhi supported British war efforts.

Compare what Malcolm X says about house slaves to Gandhi’s defense of the British Empire below.

“We be in danger.”
