I voted to table the resolution brought to the floor today that would have sent articles of impeachment straight to the Senate, without an investigation in the House first. We need to investigate and carefully document potential grounds for impeachment before we take that vote.
An impeachment inquiry is a critical step toward building consensus as to whether the President committed "high crimes and misdemeanors." The public deserves to see that evidence if it exists, and the Senate expects to review it before conducting a trial.
