Tory backbencher Andrew Selous: “We have a Parliament that thinks representative democracy can defeat direct democracy.”

This is at the root of everything. The truth is representative democracy is always going to trump direct democracy because we have a parliamentary system.
It isn’t a matter of representative democracy “defeating” direct democracy. It’s just that unless we dismantle our *entire* system of government, the former will always be superior to the latter. Because it’s how we’re governed and it’s what we live by.
Because, how could we forget, Parliament is always sovereign.
