The degeneracy (“Progressive ”identitarianism , Ultra-Atomization, etc.etc) of social life in the advanced and well developed countries, is unique to Said countries.
The idea that this behavior will be exported to the rest of the world forms a central part of the mythos of both Bougie Cosmopolitans and Rightwing Traditionalists. It implies that every country could become “advanced” through globalization,
When that is the opposite of the truth. What globalization does is ensure total corporate control through outsourcing and capital flight- The Rich always have access to un-unionized Labour and ways to hide the wealth they’ve accumulated through said exploitation.
So it’s not a “progressive” force- Globalization actually represents worldwide stagnation for the Human race. So both it’s apologists and critics get the wrong end of the stick when they view as a top down way of implementing social liberalism in every country.
So the status quo of Social Justice Movements among the privileged few in the West, that are just exercises in narcissism, and Rightwing traditionalism remaining intact in most of the world- both of these are compatible with this state of affairs.
Ordinary working people, people at the bottom of society- They are the source of permanent and positive change. So when working class power is curtailed to such a widespread degree, the result is that genuine progress screeches to a halt.
So the bizarre behavior of rich liberal westerners, and the reliance on social tradition among the masses in the third world are two symptoms of the same issue. Liberals in the West forget what actual progress is, and worship the corporate cargo cult version of “progress” that
Imitates the cadences of successful mass movements from the past that fought prejudice, but redirects towards self actualization of the individual- So you can feel as righteous and fiery as those activists without actually doing anything.
In the meantime, Social progress is prevented in the Third World because when you work all day in a sweatshop or a field and you get killed for trying to organize among yourselves, you stick to the (regressive) social structures you know, because you have no other option, they
Are your only source of comfort. So the extended lifespan of the “permanent things” (a favorite term Of Russel Kirks, that’s really just a glorification of old superstitions and hierarchies) is a result of globalization, and not resistance to it.
To sum it all up, Fukuyama was wrong about us coming to the end of history- We are in a time of immense tension and pressure, and it’s precisely because there is still natural momentum underneath it all , that proves that we aren’t at the end of anything yet.
That’s the ironic thing- People on this site who regard themselves as the opposite of Fukuyama have internalized his entire argument, they just flip it around rather then reject the whole premise- which means they are just reacting rather then rising above.
