Important interview (April 2019) with Dr. Alexander Korte, a German Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. In it, he describes recent changes in the population of patients presenting with gender dysphoria.

This is clearly a worldwide phenomenon.

Dr. Korte has written about the potential problems with child transition for over a decade. Among other things, he points out that pubertal blockade may interfere with the natural development of a young person's sexuality.

The interview is in German, subtitled in English.
Some highlights from the linked interview with Dr. Korte (who heads a Munich clinic, working with young people with gender identity issues).

Especially in the last 5 years, "a marked increase in biological girls...in early to mid-adolescence."
Korte has clearly noted in his Munich clinic the same thing elsewhere observed: A new population of adolescents seeking transition who experienced no childhood dysphoria.
Korte on puberty blockers: "I have taken a clear stance. I am critical of the treatment. I think it needs to be reconsidered." Why?
Dr. Korte says what many of us have also pointed out: The fact that nearly 100% of puberty-blocked kids go on to cross-sex hormones is concerning, & suggests blockers may fix a trans identity that "at this very early age cannot be certain."
Korte goes on to say children tend to be impulsive ("hasty") & he does not believe they are capable of understanding the decision to block puberty "which has lifelong consequences" and is not a harmless intervention.
Korte says, as he has in his published studies, that blocking puberty may interfere with psychosocial development, and may even be a "homosexuality averting project."
Korte "goes there," suggests the increase in youth identifying as trans may be a trend, and compares it to the explosion of people claiming to have multiple personalities in the 1990s.
Then (as now with trans issues), there were conferences, workshops, and uncritical coverage of "multiple personality disorder" in the media.
Korte is asked about broader social causes and conditions that may be contributing to the explosion of youth identifying as trans. He summarizes: "Modern society's utopian belief...that promises the total satisfaction of needs."
Korte has much more to say about how post-modern, neoliberal societies have paved the way for the youth gender trend--including that it's a logical result of an economy built around consumerism.
Finally, Korte addresses the backlash he's received from some activists. He defends scientific inquiry, as well as transsexuals who aren't represented by the current activism, & says he's "too much of a scientist" to believe in the social constructivism inherent in queer theory.
One important tweet was inadvertently left out of this thread: Korte worries that many young people now "hope that gender-affirming treatments will solve all their problems...an illusion that cannot be fulfilled."
The interview has now also been uploaded to Daily Motion, with the express permission of Dr. Korte. If you are having trouble viewing the original, try this link.

Someone has uploaded to YouTube a version of the Korte interview, with bigger, more readable English captions and slightly different translation.
