Today I complete my 5 years at @Razorpay . Time flies really fast, it all seems like yesterday. Having played multiple roles at the company, I thought might be a good milestone to look back and summarise my key learnings. As people who know me wd relate - #sharingiscaring (1/11)
First professional learnings - 1. Always, Always be there for the customer. I remember times when our services were disrupted n down, but we always picked up customer calls, no matter what time n day. This built immense trust with our initial clients, they still use us :) (2/11)
2. Innovation is the key for the business, always find a way to innovate. Usually once you reach a certain stage, it is very easy to be bogged down by day to day ops. Imp to take a break and brainstorm with the team on 10 year vision. Always encourage ideas, no idea is bad (3/11)
3. There would always be external challenges, for us, it was Demonetization, Bank Moratorium etc. Best businesses and best teams emerge from these situations.
Very important to see through these hurdles and plan for long. Customer trust again is crucial in hard times (4/11)
4. There are very few people in the org who can zoom in and zoom out of a problem at ease, find those people and nurture them. Let them paint the big picture, at the same time, let them execute
Also, ASK FOR HELP from them, they are amazing sounding boards (5/11)
5. Put effort and make your workplace fun. Having watercooler sessions are equally important for team building
Enjoying your work is very critical, you spend almost 70% of your active day at work. Prepare the team to be together in both war and peace times (6/11)
Coming to a few of the personal learnings

6. Patience is the key to a lot of things in life. Delay your gratification both at the professional and personal life.
Dont chase applause, be committed and stay calm (7/11)
7. Everyone makes mistakes, avoid being defensive. Learn from them and move on. Easier said than done though. Find people who can speak into your life

For me, a big challenge was my professional n personal circle had major overlap. Try to find ways to get feedback at both (8/11)
8. You can have infinite learnability if you can just listen to people. There is more to people than just work, everyone has a story within themselves, has their own struggle, and everyone is a winner
I learned from a friend, best conversations need a great listener (9/11)
9. Learn to let go. At times to achieve bigger things, you have to let go of your current project, team or even role. Its ok if someone else does at 80% output, trust them in long run
Very difficult to do in the hindsight. This was undoubtedly one of my biggest challenge (10/11)
10. Call your best friend green tea if you need to rejuvenate your day. Hot water is equally good if you dont like the taste

Also, be it knowledge or food, always share because #sharingiscaring :) (11/11)
Bonus

Would like to end with a para from my fav poem by Robert Frost

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep :)
