1 day until 6-year-statute of limitations for #FlintWaterCrisis misconduct in office charges. MI AG @dananessel's team has had bombshell info we broke of alleged payoffs by MI Gov. Snyder's right-hand man Rich Baird of Flint residents since summer 2019..

Our reporting indicates @dananessel has had since September--also shows Snyder's right-hand man lying about Snyder/top officials being told Flint water situation was "under control" in 2014/15 & could be improved. As we broke, this is a lie...
Snyder's environmental lawyer Valerie Brader pleaded w/ Snyder's chief of staff, right-hand man, and other officials of "urgent" matter to switch Flint off the Flint River in Oct 2014--6 months after water switch. Snyder's right-hand man allegedly threatened and silenced her
My goal is getting truth out so the people who should be held accountable are. It's been very disappointing to see those I thought shared that goal silent. 8 days after we broke original story, @MMFlint @RashidaTlaib @BernieSanders @AOC silent (I def know first two know of this)
Shockingly the Congressman who represents Flint--@RepDanKildee (who is good friends w/ @MMFlint) is also silent. As is MI @SenStabenow @SenGaryPeters & MI state Sen @jimananich (who previously proposed extending statute of limitations).
I have had conversations with major national journalists and editors who have basically told me they agree that the story proves major corruption but that it's a "local story" at this point or outlets are too busy covering #COVID19. Straight up--this mentality is why a growing..
majority of Americans don't trust the media....it's comprised of mostly out-of-touch, cosmopolitan elites in NY/D.C. who frankly don't truly give a crap about downtrodden, economically devastated, or in Flint's case, poisoned communities. They view politics as a blood sport...
and a who's up/who's down game w/ a scoreboard....and stories that expose a massive environmental cover-up of the biggest environmental calamity of the 21st century isn't sexy enough to them. SHAME on Detroit @freep @flintjournal @detroitnews @nytimes @washingtonpost @CNN @MSNBC
FYI--media's new darling @GovWhitmer promised to re-open Flint's free water pods as she became Gov...16 months later, still closed. Our reporting indicates she told Flint Mayor @karenaboutflint that she couldn't get anymore $ for Flint bc the legislature had "Flint fatigue"

🧵For the libs and journalists melting down that Katie Porter called her election “rigged.” She is absolutely right. You have just normalized the buying of elections by billionaires and Super Pacs as the normal democratic process…
When groups like AIPAC give $5 million to Adam Schiff, along with all the other big money he got, & he then spends it on ads to BOOST the Republican over Porter—that is not a Democratic process. It’s a rigged process skewed toward oligarchs & plutocrats. When special interests…
And their money carpet bomb TV in an EXPENSIVE media market to flood voters with positive Adam Schiff and Steve Garvey ads-that DOES rig the process. Not only against Katie Porter, but a deserving candidate like Barbara Lee…who can not compete as they are not corrupt enough…

🧵NEWS: My latest INSIDE MI AG Dana Nessel's "Shit Show" Flint water investigation:

-Ex-Gov Snyder's chief of staff secretly testified—likely against him—but case was thrown out.

-Nessel's office ignored MAJOR legal warnings & MISLED Flint residents...

metrotimes.com/news/inside-da…
-After firing the original Flint special prosecutor who was building momentum in the case— Nessel appointed "amateur" prosecutors she knew and had donated to her AG campaign.

“It was a shit show,” a source with knowledge of what transpired internally in Nessel’s office’s Flint investigation tells Metro Times. “They weren’t prepared for what was coming. If you place amateurs in there to play in the big leagues, they’re probably gonna get their asses kicked.”
-Nessel's office also misled Flint residents about the justification for Nessel firing most of the original Flint water investigative team--including special prosecutor Todd Flood, chief investigator Andy Arena—who helped bring down the Gambino crime family—and others...

😡 THREAD on crimes & coverups corp media loves to cover vs ones they bury: here u have @msnbc reveling in the "mafia" & "Gambino crime family"-esque Trump classified docs crime & cover-up.

But let me tell you about a BIGGER COVER-UP the network & rest of corp media ignored...
@MSNBC A decade ago, then-MI Gov. Rick Snyder was warned by officials that if Flint used the Flint River as a water source, it would pose “an increased microbial risk to public health" & increased risk of carcinogens in the water. A year later, he allowed Flint to switch to Flint River Image
@MSNBC Right before 2014 Flint River switch, Snyder's officials conspired w/ others to concoct a fake emergency that granted Flint—already at its borrowing limit—an exception to borrow $85 million to join a proposed privatized water pipeline (& use Flint River while it was constructed)

🧵At a wedding yesterday, I talked w/ an older conservative dude who was union electrician b4 retiring (this was 3 whiskies in). He watches Tucker Carlson & thinks transgender teens/drag queen story hour is a major threat. I asked if he made a lot more $ upon retiring vs 30s-50s.
He told me he was actually making less than 20 years ago bc companies were blackballing union electricians in favor of less-skilled non-union work. He actually had to start driving Lyft in his 60s to make more bc his union gig wasn't enough to get his kids through college...
I forget if it was 3 or 4 whiskies in, but I said something along the lines of "After breaking your back all day you had to drive people around to earn what you did 20 years ago and you think a drag queen reading green eggs and ham to a kid is the biggest problem in America?"...

🧵on SVB: whether you think vulture capitalists and SV titans are getting a bailout or not (they are), the bigger picture here is what the IMMEDIATE govt response says about our political system: when plutocrats are threatened, govt acts in 48 hours. When ppl of East Palestine...
Flint, poor Black & brown communities, and name-your-Native-American reservation are poisoned by their govt and/or corporate America--politicians hide behind bureaucracy, red-tape, and legal excuses to basically do nothing...while regurgitating BS "all clear" declarations from...
the EPA, state environmental agencies, etc. Think about this...a month from now is the 9 year anniversary of the ONGOING #FlintWaterCrisis & residents STILL get rashes, receive smelly water, & have burning eyes in the shower. And ALL THE DESTROYED PIPES haven't been replaced...

🧵FYI this is the time, after 2 weeks of coverage, when mainstream media moves off of a catastrophic story like #EastPalestineOH—when the cameras leave & coverage shifts from hourly/daily to occasional updates to abandon the story altogether. This happened w/ #FlintWaterCrisis.
Mainstream media outlets typically only care when they deem an URGENCY to a catastrophe—when it's new and the flames, or poison water, or adverse health symptoms seem most dire. In my experience, once they predictably stop covering and caring, is when the REAL coverup begins...
That coverup is a mixture of government, media, and in the case of East Palestine, the corporate (Norfolk Southern), pushing forward flawed testing in order to provide the "all clear" sign and sweep things under the rug. The void of media coverage—particularly ON-THE-GROUND...
