As @WesleyLowery has tweeted, the scale of police harassment of journalists is certainly beyond what we saw in the past, but that’s really only because there are so many more protests. If there ever were “norms,” they were broken years ago. washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/medi…
Dozens of reporters were arrested in Ferguson, and they were often specifically targeted by the police because they were media. Police shot projectiles at camera crews then too.

They seized a photojournalist because he briefly paused on a sidewalk!
Any story on police harassing journalists now should probably also note that you couldn’t post videos directly to Twitter in 2014. Livestreaming was nowhere near as simple as it is now. That actually explains a lot!
Reporters should expose the lies police tell about them, which reveal much broader problems. A lying Ferguson police CAPTAIN (who later resigned over racist emails) told detectives that @WesleyLowery and I:

1) Wanted to be jailed longer.
2) Were on “assignment" to be arrested. Image
