THREAD | Wolves change of shape v Leeds
A thread on how Nuno corrected a tactical issue early in the first half to help set Wolves on their way to an impressive result on Monday night at Leeds. #wwfc Image
15 minutes in and Wolves had been completely outplayed against a dominant Leeds side. Wolves had started with a 3-5-2/5-3-2 shape, as pictured (Jimenez not in shot), and appeared to be chasing shadows as Leeds dominated the ball and territory #wwfc Image
Designed to protect the centre of the pitch, Wolves shape left them unable to apply pressure on Leeds’ full backs which saw them vulnerable in wide areas #wwfc
A stoppage in the game allowed Nuno to change shape to a 343, which shifted Pedro Neto into the front line, with Leander Dendoncker and Joao Moutinho in midfield together as a central pair #wwfc Image
The tactical tweak helped Wolves to slow Leeds attack down, make their play more predictable and allow them to defend more effectively in wide areas. Suddenly Leeds had less space to attack and created less overloads #wwfc
Half time gave Nuno the chance to instruct the team to set their defensive line slightly higher, and play more of the game in Leeds half #wwfc
Having two deeper central midfielders rather than just one also gave the Wolves team better options to retain possession and combine through the middle of the pitch rather than being forced to play long balls forwards #wwfc
Wolves needed a little bit of luck to win the game but by the time of the goal they had been on top in the second half and were decent value for the lead. Without the early change in shape, it might have been too late to recover as it felt like Leeds could score at any time #wwfc

THREAD | Wolves creative woes against Newcastle
Despite dominating the possession and territory against Newcastle, Wolves failed to create enough chances to win the game, falling victim to a late equaliser #wwfc
Wolves had 16 shots in the game but just 3 of those were on target. As you can see from this shot map (credit @InfogolApp) only one of those shots came in front of the penalty spot and that was from an angle, on Raul Jimenez’s left foot #wwfc
In the first half (and particularly early on) Wolves had some bright passages of play where they were able to create space inside the Newcastle low block and look threatening in the final third #wwfc

THREAD | RAYAN AÏT NOURI
Wolves fans got a decent opportunity to check out potential new signing Rayan Aït Nouri in a 6-1 defeat to PSG last night. Despite the result, there was plenty of praise for left wing-back. Have put together this thread on his performance! #WWFC Image
Firstly, a small picture of what Aït Nouri offers. It's a limited sample due to the amount of minutes (broken jaw in January/curtailment of season) BUT evident he is a keen dribbler, not dissimilar to Ruben Vinagre in that respect but is good in the air and pressures well. #WWFC Image
Last night, he took the third most touches of his team (75) and this was his heat map. As you'd expect he covered the left side pretty well despite the opposition and result, still a key man for his team, especially in possession. #WWFC Image
