Iran reported more corona deaths on Tuesday than ever before. According to the Ministry of Health, 346 Covid-19 patients died within 24 hours. During the same period, almost 7,000 new infections were registered,
said Ministry spokeswoman Sima Lari on state television. This means that the total number of corona deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in Iran at the end of February is 33 299, and that of those infected is 581 824.
According to health experts, the number of cases is likely to be more than twice as high as stated, because there are still too few test options in Iran.
Extrapolated, this would mean that on average one infected Iranian dies every 2 minutes and one becomes infected every 6 seconds. Iran has about as many inhabitants as Germany with 83 million.
