The Central Government will mostly likely allow these #FarmersProtests to continue. The political calculation appears to be this:
1. The BJP will suffer in Haryana - however it's government was in any case unpopular except with urban Punjabis.
i/iii
2. The BJP was never a player in Punjab except as a moderating influence on the SAD. If at all, it will gain with urban Hindus.
3. The BJP MAY suffer a little in parts of Western Uttar Pradesh but will benefit in the rest of the state thanks to these protests.
ii/iii
4. There will be no adverse impact on the BJP in the rest of the country. If anything it could gain thanks to unhinged Greta/Meena/Mia supporters.
Therefore it's time for the opposition, except in Haryana, Punjab & parts of Western UP to distance themselves from all this
iii/iii
I understand the Punjab Congress, the Hooda Haryana Congress, the RLD & Western UP regional/caste leaders of the SP supporting this agitation & being seen doing so.
Beyond that - it has zero or in fact negative impact.
