Last time I was home, my whole family was +ve. They’ve all recovered, and we’re going to celebrate that recovery and my 1st salary together. We all realise that it’s something to be grateful for- to survive 2 peaks & still be here.
There were worrisome hiccups along the way. But I want to say I’m proud of the way we all dealt with it. Especially my parents- my mother, who even during her illness, did teleconsultation for as many pts as she could. “there’s too many cries for help, how do i not listen”
My father, who’s already a part of Immune Task Force- and has been contributing indirectly, is now directly going to head teams at government setups to take care of COVID19 pts. Even during his illness, he’s kept himself updated, studied & contributed to guidelines.

My parents are doctors so we took both doses in March. Last week my family tested +ve. All of them had mild symptoms. All of them are on the road to recovery. This is to tell you vaccine DOES NOT prevent infection. But it CAN SAVE LIVES. #GetVaccinated #VaccinationDrive
My grandparents also tested positive and have recovered as well. No fever since 2 days. They had yet to take the 2nd dose.

There are multiple things which have led to this outcome:
1. Vaccination. Our family of 5 had taken at least 1 dose of vaccine. And my parents and I being HCWs had taken both.

2. Early testing. The day one had fever the person got tested. Screened with RAT and then with RT PCR if RAT was -ve.

Had to visit a store today. I was parking the car outside a society, next to the society gate across the shop. It was in no way hindering the gateway. The security guard started yelling at my mom very rudely to park it somewhere else. I did & later saw an auto in the same spot.
I didn’t mind that he wanted me to park somewhere else but I didn’t like the tone he used with my mom. It was very disrespectful. Similar incident happened when I went with my friends to have dinner outside on Saturday.
This time it wasn’t parking. We were just standing outside a complex and talking in the walkway. There were people walking freely across. There was no way a car could even enter there. The office in the building was closed. & the guard started yelling at us to go talk elsewhere.

I wrote a small story to explain #ImmuneResponse in #COVID19 to better understand what happens in our bodies. Sharing it here. #Tweetorial

We’ll pretend that the virus is an intruder while our house represents our body. The door of our house is a portal of entry. /1
When an intruder enters our house, we would arm ourselves with whatever we can & try to fight him. We’re not experts. So our response may be amateur, our weapons may not even be sufficient to beat him. This is similar to the innate response.
Next, we’d call the cops.
The innate immune response is non specific. It’s the first to act. Cells involved in this response would present the antigen to cells responsible for acquired immunity. We can call this “handing it over to the experts” as for the cops in our story.
