Hi! Since there are now many new faces I am interacting with on this platform, I want to take a minute and introduce myself 😁
I am a 3rd year elementary music teacher (what a time to join the profession, am I right?). My B.A. is in Music Education and I've been a french horn player of approx 14 years (but it's currently pretty dusty, whoops!)
I want to teach in an early childhood classroom ASAP. I love teaching elementary music, but my passion for teaching is rooted in building meaningful relationships with my students, and gen ed is where I want to be ❤️.
I am very passionate about learning best practices in education, specifically behavior and classroom management. I am currently applying to M.Ed in Special Ed programs to learn more about systems/methods/etc regarding behavior and CM.
My end goal is to complete a PhD and focus my research on student behavior and teacher approach to classroom management (p.s- clip charts are 🤮, behavior is communication, and no kid is a bad kid).
I absolutely love the #teachertwitter community and can't wait to continue learning from others ❤️. I hope everyone is staying safe during back to school season. I'm rooting for you!

My school board had an emergency meeting and voted today to go virtual for one week. We’ve been in school for 9 days.

Less than two weeks… over 630 student quarantines and 150 student positives.
9 days. All face to face, no mask requirement (thanks to our governor), and 3 feet social distancing when possible (hint: not often).
They presented the data and kept talking about how this is much worse than ANY point last school year (we were f2f all year).

…hmm. Probably because literally NO mitigation efforts are being implemented right now.
