1. This is quite a column. It is in response to the excellent, rightly angry, article by @holyroodmandy for @HolyroodDaily which we highly recommend reading. Mr Giugliano is not named but in his over-blown prose, it was "character assassination"
holyrood.com/editors-column…
2. It is worth reminding ourselves of the original tweet which caused many veteran campaigners on women's rights to respond with indignation.

Apparently, accusing women of not caring about abusive men before GRA reform is "uncomfortable home truths"
3. Mr Giugliano repeats many of the myths that a generation raised after their rights were won now parrot.

He believe trans people "often led the charge" to win LGB rights, erasing the man and women who really did do the work and are now speaking out about concerns.
4. He rails "Perhaps the magazine would rather I turn a blind eye and just be grateful that centuries later people like me can be equal in the eyes of the law. No, we won’t step back into the shadows."

No one has asked you to - it is women who are told they must give way.
5. "I have...argued that the central problem in relation to gender-based violence is abusive men and toxic masculinity, not trans people. I’ve argued that women and trans people share the same perpetrator."

No doubt he has a unerring gender detector to help identify abusive men.
6. He says GCs are not "drawing attention to the harms of toxic masculinity and domestic abuse". We "don't want to hear this" & attack "the most marginalised group in society."

Men are not the most marginalised & we cannot talk about abuse & male violence without mention of sex
7. There is is much else in the same hyperbolic vein.

What is clear is that Toni thinks the bad women fail to understand what he in his generosity is trying to mansplain.

We mustn't talk about our rights in case we upset the "weakest".
8. We've met some representatives of the "weakest". They shout "witch" in our faces, they report us to the police, they punch us, they send death and rape threats. They exhibit all the "toxic masculinity" that Toni affects to despise.

That's the real "elephant in the room"
And because it is awesome, here is Mandy's column again.

Much pearl clutching at @StirUni where "hate crimes" are occurring.

So shocking is the material, that the bold investigative reporter dare not reproduce it, but, Brig (student rag) had sight of "materials which contain references to women's rights". Stay safe out there!
There is a serious point here. At a time of an epidemic of violence against women, @brignewspaper and the students of @StirUni thinks that women's rights are hateful & dangerous and anyone who believes in upholding women's safety needs to be rooted out & reported to police.
We received an email from the student journo who demanded we "confirm or deny" we were responsible for this material.

He claimed "any further comment... would be welcomed and included within our article".

We like to help, so we did reply. Spoiler it wasn't included.

Mhairi Hunter's tip for politicians is to use 1984 less as a warning and more of a "how to" manual.
Presumably "adult" also means 12 year olds in this brave new world.
No, we really don't. And if Sturgeon's close advisor thinks we do, it is no wonder the FM is on such a mess.

Children In Scotland a charity paid £1m per year by the public want the Gov to allow 12 year olds to be able to change the sex on birth certificates without parental consent.

As Trina Budge says, our children deserve better. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/…
We recommend that @cisweb read this powerful account on how the gender industry in the US is failing children with autism or depression & medicalising them for life.

Brain maturity does not occur until mid 20s. Why damage children in this way?
pitt.substack.com/p/to-my-daught…
This week, we learnt guidelines for sentencing of people under 25 take account "that the brain takes some time to mature and young people have the opportunity to change as they develop intellectually and emotionally"

But gender is fixed at 12?

In 2019 @NHSGGC told us that no young people below the age of 18 under the care of Sandyford Gender Identity Clinic @SandyfordNHSGGC were referred for surgeries.
It later came to light that this was not true. The previous year, according to a publication in a child mental health journal, a 16 yo had been referred, accepted, and was on the waiting list for a double mastectomy.
researchgate.net/publication/33…
Not willing to wait the few months, the surgery was arranged privately. Despite the surgeon's reservations about the patient's young age, viewing them as an adolescent and not an adult, the surgery proceeded after consultation with staff at Sandyford.

FWS "accused the Scottish NHS of attempting to cover up the extent of the practice, after it initially claimed no-one under 18 had been approved"

We discovered @NHSScotland is already referring 16 year olds to England for unnecessary double mastectomies.
telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/…
"New figures, released under the Freedom of Information Act, show there have been at least 51 cases in which trans males, born as females, under 18 have been approved for double mastectomies in Scotland over a six year period to April last year."
"The teenagers are sent to hospitals in England, where they undergo further assessment for “specialist chest reconstruction”. In theory, those as young as 17 can undergo the procedure, and children as young as 16 have “referred for assessment for surgery.”"

Full transcript of the shocking comments from Mridul Wadhwa yesterday.

Including repeating the notion that a movement built by volunteer women needs to "wash and clean" itself of the past female activism./
forwomen.scot/wp-content/upl…
Wadhwa also repeated the appalling proposition that rape victims need to "learn not to be transphobic".

The job of a rape support service is to support victims. Anyone with knowledge of trauma will know that raped women frequently cannot bear to be near males - even loved ones./
Naturally part of healing is to re-equip them for the world. But in a safe space, telling them they must accept clearly male people as women is mental cruelty.

Wadhwa's agenda could not be clearer and it is not the support of these women./
