2/ As I always note, important to read the entire piece, but here are some quotes: "Earlier this week, Canadian media companies signed a statement outlining their support for journalists on the receiving end of abuse. ...
3/ ... Presumably, the need to put out this statement was fuelled in part by People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier calling on his supporters to “play dirty” with journalists, though neither Bernier nor his party are explicitly mentioned." thestar.com/opinion/contri…
4/ (abbrev) "We won’t ever be able to convince pols like Bernier not to flirt w hateful rhetoric or use racist & xenophobic populist anger among electorate … We can … make smarter editorial decisions, & implement policies that will help protect journalists from worst of it."
5/ as I note in tweet 2/ - really important to read the entire piece.
1/ Here’s a (short) thread linking tweets and articles with some useful info related to the Calgary municipal election, Oct 18, 2021 – specifically re mayoral candidates:
2/ I'm listening to a presser on @CBCNews right now. Chyron: "Members of big city mayors' caucus speak before meeting PM Trudeau today in Ottawa."
This reminds me of how important it is that we vote for our choice of mayor, as they advocate for Calgary to the feds.
- really don't think I should have to get a booster, simply bec I mixed my doses: AZ & Pfizer, holding off for now. Many of us received the AZ, in a way to protect our communities, & cannot see anything wrong w mixed dosing. Why is the US unsure about this?
ref (abbrev) "The U.S. is also awaiting guidance from the CDC about travellers who received mixed doses of COVID-19 vaccines or the AZ vaccine. The U.S. has not approved the mixing of vaccine doses or the AstraZeneca vaccine for its own residents." cbc.ca/news/canada/us…
3/ that said (see my top tweet), we have no plans to travel to the US anytime soon. They are struggling more with containing Covid-19 - less vaccinated, higher case counts, especially the states we would be driving through to get elsewhere: Montana and/or Idaho
- reminder that the Canadian Taxpayers Federation is a member of the Atlas Network. Koch has been known to fund the global "Atlas Network" which includes Canada Strong & Free Network
2/ - and if you plug in the word Koch in the Atlas Network website search box, it returns 27 results, with top reference to a Koch Internship Program in 2019 atlasnetwork.org/partners

3/ “But one circadian rhythm expert from the University of Calgary told CTV News Edmonton that question itself is flawed.
"We've been presented with two bad choices," Dr. Michael Antle said. "A bad one and a worse one."
