Love when Delhi journos do this romanticism of #Mumbai in the Congress mouthpiece.
So here is my two paise take (I'm born and brought up in this city):
Mumbai is dead long ago. We are choked. The blame should be on 'secular' Sena. They have ruled us for 35 years and messed it up.
#Bollywood is just one industry based in #Mumbai. It is under attack on the war on drugs. But truthfully, it is dishing out shit for years. The war is that people don't want to see this shit despite the opening of multiplexes. That's the war Bollywood has to win. Will they?
The magnetic appeal of #Mumbai was - connectivity, opportunity and work culture. Our infra is choked, projects are blocked, real estate is expensive and other states have better opportunities. So the millennials are moving out. Who is giving permissions for high rises in slums?
It took me 20 yrs loan to buy a matchbox size house in this city. The secular torchbearers of Marathi pride - Thackeray bros - have built their towers worth crores, while Marathi manoos is thrown out of the city. 50 years they are fighting for us, but no accountability.
The war on Mumbai is by all political parties who have milked it and turned it into an open slum. The spirit is a joke as people have no option but to survive. Ask #Bollywood producers whether they want to shoot here under the cloud of extortion and harassment. Crocodile tears?
#Bollywood's war is on content, production costs, and above all OTT. Everyone stays here and works outside. Why no even ever asks about this irony? Drugs is an open secret, which every journo knows but maintains omerta.
Yeh public hai, sab jaanti hai.

Watched 'The Iron Lady' over the weekend (again) and the conversation between Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep won an Oscar for this) and her doctor has never been relevant than today as the woko haram takes over entire public discourse. You are in or cancelled.
Thatcher: 'One of the greatest problems of our age is that we are governed by people who care more about feelings than they do about thoughts and ideas.
Now, thoughts and ideas, that interests me.
Watch your thoughts, for they will become actions.
Watch your actions, for they'll become... habits.
Watch your habits for they will forge your character.
Watch your character, for it will make your destiny.
That's what my father told me...'

#BestCM to chair cabinet tomorrow and sources state that the statewide lockdown could well be extended till May 15. But the bigger issue facing #MVA is whether to give vaccines free for all citizens. And the internal mess in communication (as usual) has made things worst
Loud mouth Nawab Malik has already announced the free scheme. Prince did the same and deleted the tweet. #BestCM seems to be in favour, but the finance ministry held by Ajit Pawar seems be more worried about the Rs 7000 crore 'burden' on the state. So what will be the final call?
The state budget is over Rs 3 lakh crore, fixed deposits of BMC are around Rs 60,000 crore. Then why this indecisive approach till the last few days? NCP is over excited to cancel loans of farmers all the time, so why talk cost now?
Truth - there are NO elections in #Maharashtra

This is what I hear in majority of journo whatsapp groups - Gosh we are suffering in #WestBengal. There have been no jobs. But no, we don't want outsiders. Seriously?!
I've been in media for 30 years and in my 22 years as a journalist in Mumbai, this is what I saw -

Majority of editors in print and TV were Bongs. And they were clear in hiring more Bongs - colleagues, families and even current and former girlfriends. Such was the trend that we joked that the official language in Times, DNA would be Bengali. The strategy was effective
#Mumbai and #Maharashtra embraced them. So did Benguluru and Delhi. No one said 'outsider'
When majority of deskies for DNA Mumbai launch landed from Kolkata, we worked together to ensure they understood #Maharashtra politics. We were a team. Vada paav was shared. It was fun

#Maharashtra's principal health secretary Dr Pradeep Vyas has been under fire by no less than 21 ministers in #BestCM cabinet. His refusal to act fast on key issues like building oxygen plants, remdesevir procurement is causing unprecedented crisis
facebook.com/mymahanagar/vi…
Holding crucial post since 2017, Vyas is accused of negative, time-consuming approach at work. Despite complaints, #BestCM has refused to remove him, while shuffling many IAS officers, raising eyebrows. Many ministers are openly calling Vyas - the villain of #COVID19 crisis
Bhandara, Bhandup, Nasik, Vasai-Virar - the deaths in the state are on rise. Angry ministers want the #BestCM favourite out. 'Is Vyas kept to merely count dead bodies?' says a senior minister.

Every time I meet journalists (former colleagues) the conversation jumps to - 'India needs a strong opposition' and is a moral obligation for all of us to strengthen the Congress.
Seriously, why should journos take on this task? How does it fit in their work profile?
Did we take on this task when the BJP was down to two MPs in the Parliament? Was it important for all of us to pitch in to strengthen the BJP? Was it a national obligation?
NO
They worked hard. Learned from their mistakes, build a cadre and are back in power. Modi is not ABV
I recall two leading women journos having tears in their eyes when Pawar had left Maharashtra for Centre. What will happen to our state? One asked me. I remember laughing then. Losing perspective is fine. But crony journalism sucks. Wake up, at least now
