I hope ALL opposition parties will parade the faces of all the Tory MPs who voted down restrictions (that are generally popular with the public) over and over again.
So their constituents KNOW they are not focussed on public health.
In fact, by result date we were at 67,349 new cases by swab date on Monday already &, as they are still adding cases to last Friday & beyond, expect that to ⬆️
And what restrictions are being added?
None.
Hospital admissions rising.
That’s the highest cases by REPORT date ever. 🚀 🚀 🚀
This day last year we were on 18,450 cases by report date
We did reach 81,475 cases by SWAB date on 29-12-20
Let’s keep checking back to see what Monday ends up with.
I expect you are all very grateful that we spent the summer and autumn building up all that herd immunity only to get infected with an even more infectious variant for Christmas 2021.
Last Thursday a London hedge fund followed Johnson’s advice to go ahead with Xmas Parties
By Monday, the 15-strong team had all tested positive for Covid. To make matters worse, 1 team member had visited his elderly parents days earlier unaware that he was carrying the virus
Yesterday @trvrb@TWenseleers raised the possibility of a double epidemic : Omicron & Delta
“the more immune escape Omicron has from Delta-specific immunity the more the 2 variants have distinct ecological niches, so are able to co-exist without stepping on each other's toes.”
All we need now is a poor immune compromised soul to catch both at the same time and breed a new super strength one.
That is the trouble with taking the brakes of and creating multiple opportunities with people with multiple states of immunity for the virus to practise on.
Brexit-voting areas of UK have highest COVID-19 death rate
Joint Oxford and Glasgow Uni study claimed to have found a direct correlation between Brexit-voting districts of the UK and those that have the highest rate of fatalities from COVID-19.
For example the boroughs of Boston, Great Yarmouth, South Holland, & Hartlepool, have the 4th highest fatalities from the virus in the UK & the biggest share of the vote for Brexit, with all 4 districts voting more than 75% for leave in 2016.
Wait for it….
Yes. You guessed it.
By contrast, the 20 boroughs with the lowest death rates all voted heavily for Remain.
This has been replicated in the USA where strong Trump/ Republican States have markedly higher fatality rate than Democrats.
