1) Listening to Sullivan say PTSD shouldn't be treated with benzos. I know my experience is just anecdotal, but here goes: I experienced severe childhood trauma that lasted until I was 14 and then went through the criminal court system that ended when I was 19. When my kids were
2) about the same age I was when abuse began, I started having symptoms later dx as C-PTSD. I went to therapy, which was truly brutal. Great counselor but difficult to work through. My counselor sent me to see a Psychiatrist, who gave me an anti-depressant and ativan...
3) Had it not been for ativan there is no way I could have gone through therapy. It allowed me to sleep and function in order to work through therapy. The meds did their job, and contrary to what Sullivan says, they didn't numb any pain, but allowed me to work through pain..
4) It took a couple of years to work through therapy to get to where triggers didn't have as much power, nightmares and flashbacks lessened. Guess what happened? I initiated a taper off of Ativan. I went from 5 mg/day at the worst of it to taking them prn...
5) There are certain times of year that always trigger nightmares and flashbacks. I used to be able to take ativan as needed during those times. A few years ago I was made to choose b/n ativan and opioid. Now I suffer during that time of year and live in fear of panic attacks..
6) If I didn't have ativan when I first experienced C-PTSD symptoms there is no way I would even be here right now. I def wouldn't have been able to successfully work through it in therapy. It scares me that this is the new philosophy. I normally don't get quite this personal...
7) on SM. But, our health care system needs to understand we are people. We need to be treated as individuals. Blanket statements from Lembke that PTSD isn't even a real condition or Sullivan that PTSD should never be treated with benzos will lead to deaths. I fully believe that.
8) If any of you are struggling with PTSD from childhood trauma and need to talk to someone who understands, please reach out. I am not qualified to give you counseling, but I can understand. If it's true that most CPP's have experienced childhood trauma, then we need to help...
9) those like this instead of appearing to punish us. The way it is now, patients can't be honest with their doctors. If it were 2022 instead of 2012 when I sought treatment, I 100% believe I'd not only not be offered benzos but would be cut off from all access to opioids. #PTSD

1) What it the people exposing gov orgs’ relationship w industry and how legislation is pushed though from lobbyists who represent industry are actually exposing them to actually further the agenda of others in different industries? Would you care?
2) or doesn’t it only matter if the industry is opioids for pain? What about the opioid soaring pharma or medical device industry? What if it’s interventional pain industry such as ESI or SCS? Or how about something like Exparel and shatterproof and their partnership
3) pushing through something like the No Pain Act by working w lobbyist from Exparel who created a non profit just to push through this legislation? What if those exposing the fact that FDA has gone on to work for industry actually are saying this just to further the agenda

1) The First Agency to Sound the Alarm - Dr. Tom Frieden | Cover2.org. Listen to Frieden say how the CDC took a strict view of COI’s for the writing of the GL’s. He said People’s opinions change if they have or will receive a paycheck. cover2.org/first-agency-s…
2) Said CDC didn’t allow anyone who had any COI. Oh, like a paycheck for an expert witness, where they were being paid to convince a jury that rx opioids fueled this crisis? Got it. Good thing Kolodny, Ballantyne, Alexander, weren’t allowed to be part of the GL process. 2)
3) Also listen to him discuss the WLF case when they questioned their violation of FACA. He said the delay allowed them to strengthen the GL’s, bc they found “evidence that opioids are ineffective for pain.” Oh where is that evidence? These GL were written for litigation. Period

This is a slide from Jim Shames, creator of the Oregon Pain Guidance. Want to know why women are treated as though pain is all in our heads? This is why. It’s not just the ORT, but people like Shames and Dr Ling (psychiatrist) who push this idea.
2) More from Shames. You take women who have been violated and traumatized and also have kidney stones, MS, FMS, RA, cancer, EDS, and you gaslight them. You tell them even though they have a dx condition, their pain must be psychological bc they were abused or raped.
3). Then you use that as an excuse to deny pain relief. You violate and traumatize them all over again. And you count this as success? So now if you’re a victim of sexual abuse or assault your pain, regardless of what it is (cancer, broken bones, mastectomy, kidney stones,)

Gaslighting of CPP’s is atrocious. #medtwitter- if you are scared to give opioids for pain, then say so. Stop telling a patient their illness shouldn’t hurt. Just stop. PSA for ER doctors: your line that kidney stones don’t hurt unless completely obstructing urine is a lie.
Every day I read stories on the kidney stone page bc I get chronic kidney stones. The last year has been insane for people w kidney stones. Kolodny loves to say NSAIDs work better for them than opioids. @CDCInjury keep lying to yourself that this isn’t happening bc of your GL.
@CDCInjury states, hospitals, medical practices, have written into law and policies that nobody can be over 90 mme. You did this. #DEAth goes after doctors who rx over 90. #Narxcare marks anyone one over 90mme in the top 1% for overdose risk. This country has gone insane.

Anna Lembke, "expert" witness, making I believe$750/hr, has made many derogatory statements. Remember, she is a Psychiatrist, and not a pain dr. That doesn't stop her, though. I am going to add some of her quotes to this thread. 1/
Anna Lembke 6/15/17 said "But the poor and people of color have definitely suffered during this opioid epidemic.” “Disability insurance has become the modern social safety net. Disability became a very attractive way for people to simply earn a living.”
3/ “I have had many patients over the years whose primary identity is that of being a patient, maintaining that illness is not just crucial to their identity but also crucial to their income if they’re on disability. If they were to get better then they would lose that income"
