First of all, I’d just like to make it clear that this is not a list of who I think will score the most points (that would just mean picking all the premiums), it’s a list of my favourite FPL picks. Value for money is therefore a big consideration, as well as other factors.
🔟 Neco Williams (4.0) 🔴
While we can’t expect a lot of clean sheets from Nottingham Forest, Williams is still a good pick (mainly for the low price tag). For only 4.0m, we get a starting wingback with decent attacking threat. The perfect 5th defender.
9️⃣ Ivan Perisic (5.5) ⚪️
If his minutes were not in doubt, Perisic would be a lot higher on this list. Very attacking wingback, quite good fixtures and should fit in perfectly in Conte’s system. The problem is the expected minutes, which takes him down to 9th place here.
8️⃣ Kieran Trippier (5.0) ⚫️⚪️
Newcastle’s fixtures aren’t great, but if you can bench Trippier in GW 3 and 5, he’s a solid pick. Part of a good defence, has quite a lot of attacking threat and has potential for a couple of freekick goals.
7️⃣ Gabriel (5.0) 🔴
Plays for a solid defence, has great fixtures and scored 5 goals last season. Faces Crystal Palace and Leicester, last season’s worst set piece teams, in the first 2 GWs. Potential for attacking returns is there. Only owned by 8%.
6️⃣ Ben Chilwell (6.0) 🔵
Averaged 9 points per game during the short period of starts he had last season. Is now back from injury and, if fully fit, provides extreme attacking threat from his wingback position. The issue is potential rotation with due to fitness concerns.
5️⃣ Ruben Dias (6.0) 💎
If you start the season with Dias, you know that you’re going to get a steady flow of 6-8 pointers (with the occasional goal/assist). As City have excellent fixtures, we can expect at least 5 clean sheets in the first 8 GWs, making Dias a good option.
4️⃣ Reece James (6.0) 🔵
James is incredibly attacking when he plays and has exceptionally good per 90 stats, something that should translate to FPL points this season. Nailed starter and maybe the most attacking wingback in the league. No-brainer for 6.0.
🥉 Andy Robertson (7.0) 🔴
Robbo vs Luis Diaz is a big talking point in the FPL Community, if you go for Robbo you know what you’re going to get. 14 attacking returns and 17 clean sheets last season makes the current ownership of 10% look far too low. Great pick and differential
🥈 João Cancelo (7.0) 💎
With 12 attacking returns, 19 clean sheets and 201 FPL points last season, Cancelo was a standout pick in defence. I don’t think much will change this year, so Cancelo is in my opinion an obvious pick at 7.0. Will be excellent value for money.
🥇 Trent Alexander-Arnold (7.5) 🔴
Averaging 190 FPL points over the last 4 seasons and with great fixtures to start this season with, there’s no doubt that Trent is the best defender in the game and underpriced at 7.5. Owned by 54%, should be even more.
This was the second part of a 4 threads long mini-series that I’ll be posting this week.
I’m back with the Top 10 Midfielders tomorrow and then the Top 10 Forwards on Friday. Drop me a follow to make sure you’re not missing out on those threads 💙

5️⃣ Mendy (5.0) 🔵
When the prices were released Mendy seemed like a bargain, with a price tag a whole million lower than last year. However, I don’t believe that Chelsea’s fixtures are great from a defensive point of view and with The Blues’ defence having looked shaky...
Jamie started the season with a 1m GW 1 rank and was still outside the Top 900k after GW 5. A huge 107 points score in GW 9 saw him break inside the Top 100k, where he stayed for the rest of the season.
He did, however, drop to 71k in GW 15 after 2 difficult GWs, before he went on a massive 7 GWs long streak of green arrows, which saw him rise all the way from 71k to 113th.
He went on to triple captain Salah in GW 26 for an 84-pointer, which took him all the way up to 33rd...
📌 Is this the week to FH?
📌 DGWers vs SGWers
📌 Can we trust Man Utd?
📌 Arsenal
📌 Leicester attackers
📌 Foundations
📌 Differentials
📌 Goalkeepers
📌 Free Hit drafts
Whether or not you should play your Free Hit this week is totally team dependent, but I do think this is a good opportunity. 7 teams have a DGW while 3 blank, meaning that this week presents a good chance to jump on DGWers simply for short term

GW 21 Notes - Teams 📝
🔴 Man Utd - Lame performance against Wolves. Not convincing at all, neither the attack nor the defence.
🔴 Arsenal - Dominated the game vs Man City up until the penalty and the red card. Interesting team FPL wise going forward.
