Legislation sets a minimum national standard limiting abortion past 15 weeks. It would also allow states, which choose to do so, to take additional steps to protect unborn children.
Today, in some states, there are currently no protections for the unborn. These states not only allow abortion on demand — up to the moment of birth — but are actively encouraging women to travel to their state to receive taxpayer-funded abortions.
In Maryland, a new "all-trimester" abortion facility is set to open that will perform abortions as late as 34 weeks. While shocking to the conscience, Maryland is not alone. Other states, including California, New York, Illinois, and Oregon are following similar paths.
There is a point when states’ rights must give way to human rights.
Let’s see if I have this right: @SpeakerPelosi objects to federal legislation limiting abortion after 15 wks when the unborn child has developed nerve endings & can feel pain–that’s why anesthesia is provided in surgery to mitigate the pain of an unborn child at 15 wks & beyond.
Nancy Pelosi is objecting to legislation that is to the left of 47 European countries – France, Germany, Italy, Belgium – many of whom have abortion restrictions at the 12 week and 14 week periods.
The primary reason the Attorney General and FBI are being pushed to disclose why the search was necessary is because of the deep mistrust of the FBI and DOJ when it comes to all things Trump - such as the Crossfire Hurricane and Mueller investigations.
What I am looking for is the predicate for the search. Was the information provided to the judge sufficient and necessary to authorize a raid on the former president’s home within ninety days of the midterm election?
I am urging, actually insisting, the DOJ and the FBI lay their cards on the table as to why this course of action was necessary.
Until that is done the suspicion will continue to mount.
If the circumstances surrounding the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan weren’t so horrific, it would be amusing to hear the Taliban deny they had any knowledge that al-Qaeda leader Zawahiri was staying in Kabul in a guest house of a top aide to the second in command of the Taliban.
Their response is not only an insult to our intelligence, it tells us all we need to know about the “new Taliban”— they are the old Taliban.
We need to adjust our policies quickly to avoid another 9/11, because a broken border and a terrorist safe haven in Afghanistan are a formula for disaster.
Al-Zawahiri may be dead in Afghanistan, but al-Qaeda is not gone.
Contrary to what President Biden is saying tonight, our ability to combat growing terrorist threats in Afghanistan are on the margins.
There are al-Qaeda training camps emerging in Afghanistan like before 9/11.
As I said when the Biden Administration withdrew all of our forces from Afghanistan, it was only a matter of time before the country became a safe haven for terrorism once again.
I did not believe in my wildest dreams that Al-Zawahiri would go to Kabul to live with family members as President Biden suggested. What a brazen show of an alliance between al-Qaeda and the Taliban.
