Continues to baffle me that as an asthmatic person I can’t simply walk into a pharmacy and buy an inhaler Like I just flew to a place and left my inhaler at home - something that costs nothing - and in order to get another one here I’d have to have a prescription even tho I’ve had asthma since age 5 and this isn’t going away.

being able to say whatever you want without societal ramifications is - and i cannot stress this enough - not a fundamental right people have been calling each other disrespectful names over their views since the beginning of this country. several of the founding fathers printed publications dedicated to calling each other idiots, essentially.

Biden is taking the stage in Atlanta for his speech on voting — lots of activists important to this movement declined to be here today, citing their frustration that this is too little too late. The speech Kamala Harris is giving now could have been given one year ago, with no changes. As far as I can tell.

as many of you know my best life hack is that i pay a graduate student $25 an hour to do random things i cannot make myself do and today her lists includes "fixing the wifi lights in the bedroom, because i'm too old to figure it out."

I love her. I have also not, and I know this is bad, figured out how to use my own printer because when she is here on Mondays i just ask her to print things

She definitely thinks I'm absolutely technologically incompetent

It is freaking shocking that someone like Bill Maher can let a former governor say something like this unchallenged. Of course you cannot *only* vote by mail in these three states, that wouldn't be possible. It is not possible to vote *only* by mail. It's not even logical. Christie is making full throated claims about the way voting works in three separate states and he is flatly incorrect. He has written a book. He has literally RUN FOR PRESIDENT. It is ridiculous - ridiculous - that neither Christie nor Maher knows this.

Took me three days but, here’s the most detailed accounting so far of how Cleta Mitchell ended up on the board of advisors for a federal elections agency. votebeat.org/2021/11/19/227… New here: discussion of Mitchell’s qualifications took place over email and outside of public view. Commissioners almost avoided saying her name in the meeting today, where one democratic commissioner accused J Christian Adams of hiding his financial ties to Cleta Mitchell.

Some news: Three (3) years ago @drdesrochers and I covered a *slew* of misdeeds by Kentucky Sec. of State Allison Lundergan Grimes for @propublica and @heraldleader. Today, she and her deputy COS have been formally charged with ethic violations by the state ethics board. The board has alleged that Allison Lundergan Grimes, once seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party, instructed staff to steal information from the public voter file and then gave that information at no cost to candidates of her choice.

Could not be more *thrilled* with this piece on The Friendly State from @HanaaTameez!

I'm floored at how quickly interest has built in this and it's *not because of me* it is truly because journalism education is broken.

Another bizarre statement on the appointment of Cleta Mitchell to the Election Assistant Commission Board of Advisors.

This means absolutely nothing. Michell was apparently first considered by the @USCCRgov in its April meeting — that mtg and the mtg held to approve her nomination last month are the only two meetings that do not have transcripts up online, and the agendas do not mention her name. usccr.gov/meetings/2021/…

This appears to be a response by the EAC to Cleta Mitchell being appointed to its board of Advisors.

It is correct: The EAC does not have any direct control over who is on this board. The Help America Vote Act allows specific groups the ability to appoint them without review. That said, it's not clear why this agency waited until 12 days after the appointment was official to tell anyone about it. United States Commission on Civil Rights didn't bother to announce it either.

Breaking: Cleta Mitchell — an attorney who who was integral in helping Trump craft the false narrative he won the 2020 election — has been named to the board of advisors for the Election Assistance Commission. 2/ She was appointed effective November 3, but the EAC just announced her nomination today — 12 days later — in an email to stakeholders. Her term lasts until 2023.
