It is absolutely incredible that it has taken this long for a federal court to rule a state governor's lockdown order unconstitutional.

But Judge Stickman did this situation justice. His order is a treatise on constitutional law. It's brilliant.

"Good intentions toward a laudable end are not alone enough to uphold governmental action against a constitutional challenge. Indeed, the greatest threats to our system of constitutional liberties may arise when the ends are laudable, and the intent is good."
"[Judicial] deference cannot go on forever. It is no longer March. It is now September and the record makes clear that Defendants have no anticipated end date to their emergency interventions."

I've read this article twice this morning. While the author does not expressly state it, the findings demonstrably prove that most of the news media is deliberately misinforming the public to keep the panic going.

A thread:

"On average, Americans believe that people aged 55 and older account for just over half of total COVID-19 deaths; the actual figure is 92%."

"Americans believe that people aged 44 and younger account for about 30% of total deaths; the actual figure is 2.7%."

2/
"Americans overestimate the risk of death from COVID-19 for people aged 24 and younger by a factor of 50; and they think the risk for people aged 65 and older is half of what it actually is (40% vs 80%)."

So let's go through every relevant metric -- deaths, hospitalizations, transmissibility, side effects -- to see why schools should re-open.

First, the most recent US Census chart is below. To summarize:

82M Americans are 0-24 (25.3% of total population).

Just 24M Americans are 75 are older (6.57% of total population.

census.gov/data/tables/20…
So the first metric is deaths. Obviously not the only statistic to observe (I never said it was) -- but it is self-evidently the most important thing we are trying to avoid.

179 C19 deaths in age 0-24.

68,417 C19 deaths age 75+.

Deaths directly correlate w/ age.

THREAD: While I don’t think such an over-simplification is fair, I think a fundamental difference between Team Lockdown and Team Economy has to be discussed.

Note that both groups care about the other to a degree, and they weren’t always separate. 1/
I think most people were okay with lockdown when it started. We saw the pictures from Wuhan and Italy. We needed to do something to buy some time.

The divergence occurred when Team Lockdown shifted the goalposts. 2/
Repeating myself here, but the stated goal of Team Lockdown was to “flatten the curve.” The idea was to slow the spread and buy us time to increase healthcare capacity.

Again, I think everyone understood and was mostly behind this for at least some duration. 3/

THREAD: After sleeping on it, I feel the suspension is fair, warranted, and reasonable.

ZS’s conduct was outrageous. Meyer obviously had a galaxy-sized blind spot for him and gave him the benefit of the doubt far too often.

1/
The thing we have to keep in mind is what did Meyer know and what didn’t he know.

Meyer unquestionably knew about:

-2009 DV allegations
-Strip club visit in 2014
-Missing recruiting trips
-Late to practice
-2015 DV allegations
-Substance abuse problems

2/
Meyer didn’t know about:

-2013 OVI
-Office affair
-Packages delivered to WHAC
-Dick pics

But what Meyer did know about ZS should have raised red flags the size of Ohio Stadium. Loyalty to a fault here, and it eventually put OSU in a bad light.
