The Van D*ke trial is inherently a demonstration of a network of violent white supremacist institutions demonstrating their impunity. That they’re demonstrating that impunity through a formalized process makes it no less violent and immoral.
So much of this is ‘prima facie’ wildly unjust. If the killer’s actions could in any way have been regarded as professionally justifiable, then his actions wouldn’t have been covered up *at every official level,* including by all his accessories at the scene.
I’m not suggesting that in their notorious arrogance out city’s management is incapable of making a unanimous public relations blunder, but it defies good sense to suggest that trying to hush up a $5 million payoff is the culmination of a series of good faith errors.
