Why I oppose killing people: A short essay.

So if I say "It's ok to kill certain people if they really deserve it" that sounds reasonable on its face... cause we can all imagine situations in which someone deserves to die.

But that's not really what I'm actually saying... As with most things, I'm not going to personally investigate each individual situation.

So I'm really saying "It's ok to kill certain people if someone proves they deserve to die"

Which... still seems reasonable, but also still isn't really what I'm saying...

Social Darwinism is killing us all because of a fundamental misunderstanding of the relationship between "natural selection" and "society"

The entire POINT of society is to nullify the pressures of natural selection.

And we forget this. Our economic and social systems are based on the misapplication of "survival of the fittest" to the members of society.

This is of course, absurd.

Survival of the fittest refers to an individual or species adaptation to the natural dangers of the planet.

Q: Why should relationship and sex education be an early and ongoing part of child development?

A: Because if it isn't then they're all getting their information on how to treat one another from other kids with fewer seasons under their belt than the show you just binged. Toxic masculinity exists cause boys learn flawed lessons about how to treat other humans from other boys who learned flawed lessons about how to treat other humans from other boys...

And by the time they grow up, they presume that's the way it's supposed to go.

Asking a Black person why they "see racism everywhere" is like asking someone with a deathly allergy why they notice so many bees. It's kinda difficult to overstate the level of gaslighting Black people endure in America

Despite libraries full of documented history detailing the countless ways America has worked overtime to make Black lives miserable

We are still told daily that we are being melodramatic

How do you feel about being trapped on a train with a military trained white man totally willing and able to strangle a human to death in public with no fear of consequence?

Cause that's my much bigger concern The situation DID escalate to people getting hurt.

Killed actually.

Yet not at the hands of the scary homeless person.

And the Marine will continue to enjoy the presumption of "safety" from his fellow citizens.

A mentally ill homeless man who had hurt no one on a NYC subway was murdered by a Marine.

Strangled to death in public

The Marine is being considered a hero and nobody in the press will admit the man was murdered.

news.google.com/articles/CBMiX… The homeless man said aloud that he was hungry and thirsty and angry.

Instead of offering him food or drink, the Marine argued with him, fought with him and ultimately killed him while passengers looked on.

Does this hold still? Can we still just negotiate a fine at this point?

It is truly soul crushing to watch the same exact political arguments play out with the same exact scripts over and over throughout your entire life and have exactly nothing resolve for the better. Day after day new people spout ancient talking points, unfettered by new information or new perspective.

As if the argument is cryogenially frozen each time it's debaters get bored.

Same rhetoric. Same fallacies. Same lack of progress for anyone.

Never said it was ideological.

But post Civil War, America actually tried for a moment to create a better society.

But it ultimately capitulated to the KKK and the South's conservative fascism and worked to appease them with reparations at the expense of rooting them out America had a chance to purge itself of white supremacist fascism. In fact it started, but it didn't follow through.

Then as now, the violent rhetoric, deadly attacks and economic demands won out over the desire to have a better society.

Why do "free thinkers" never come down on the side of compassion, empathy, respect, kindness, or justice?

"Free thought" always seems to praise ruthlessness, egotism, cruelty and injustice.

How free is it really? Skeptics are never very skeptical of Skepticism. Super dogmatic about its conclusions.

Whiteness? Maleness? Straightness? Cisness? Capitalism?

"No questions please"

America will spend $50,000 to make sure a poor person doesn't get away with $5

And this pattern repeats throughout the entire society Being cruel to poor people is literally a multi-billion dollar industry.

This is why the war on poverty was never anything but a war on the poor.

There are two general camps of thought in Black culture about solidarity with white people.

Those who believe that it can be productive

Those who believe that it can never be productive

The Second group's position is often supported by the response of white people to the First Are there Black people who look at the history of whiteness in America and find nothing to feel for white people but righteous indignation and scorn?

Yes

Are there those who seek the humanity trapped under whiteness?

Yes

But let me explain. Mostly we just don't trust y'all
