The first one is intended to counter people who say that they are not responsible for “the acts of their [Settler] ancestors”, and ignore/deny/reject that setter-colonialism is both ongoing and we Settlers unjustly benefit from it: /2
They’re ignoring that Canada is in violation of their own law, and that Canada’s law isn’t even on a strong foundation, since it’s based on the colonial concepts of the Doctrine of discovery and Terra Nullius.
With the decision of the second Supreme Court of Canada case about Indigenous Rights and the TransMountain Expansion project being released later this morning, here is a thread talking about this project and how it violates Indigenous Rights. 1/22
