📌#SENATE CDC Repeal Bill 2022 continued
And we're up, with Jane Hume ignoring the senate submissions of Aboriginal health peaks, RANZP and the ARHC. Now we are on 'the money' - as Jane gaslights loss of income through fees, DD breaches and rents.
#auspol Again, ppl in the NT are under the IM stream not the regular CDC stream in the 4 original trial sites.

Communities were targeted because they were LNP safe seats.

Again Hume is doing the 'percentage deception' here are the actual AOD data from Adelaide Uni:

The basic facts about NT and CDC repeal bill 2022.

1. NO community in the NT has ever been forced onto the CDC. @AmandaRishworth has not exercised the power available in current legislation to make any town or region in NT a " active " CDC zone. Alice Springs is not on the CDC. 2. The FRC region 5 communities are in QLD, and their unique program AND their authorities are PROTECTED in the ALP amendments to this bill. The reason the bill needs to be amended to ensure that, is that the issue of a conflict of law only came up in Inquiry.

Feeling for Dr Farqui. As ppl on Clink, we face similar levels of Vilification & abuse almost daily in media & on the floor of parliament. "Lazy, addicts, rapists, thieves, scum etc. For migrant recipients its worse. The entire LNP line up yesterday repeated these lies 90+ times. Agreed that we need more than token laws and patronisation. In our case, censure in the chambers of gov, and meaningful penalties for media and for acts that violate. Including C'link recipients/ people with low incomes into the Non Discrimination legislation is a 100% must.

Straight up LNP's Henderson lies - CDC is NOT being extended, it is being ABOLISHED if Repeal bill is passed.
Straight out lie. The sunset is being removed as part 3B is being removed. If this bill passes CDC legislation is GONE in 6mths. Correcting Henderson as well, Pitt sent flyers out to HIS Voters, that had a vote capacity, everyone else got flyers. Both Hinkler mayors said no and local papers regularly showed 81-89% of people said NO. The reach tell only polled 2K ppl..NOT majority. QCOSS survey 94% NO.

This is ridiculous grandstanding and if passed will mean tens of thousands are forced to remain on CDC 'until whenever'. If they cared about peoples lives on they'd not be toying with them.
#auspol Clear they are trying to get Greens @Janet_Rice offside, trying to bribe @DavidPocock its a dirty time wasting politiking stuny. If AG or DP fall for that I don't know what to say. Sleeping rough, with hope, is survivable - without it, its not...that's all I am going to say.

Social Security (Administration) Amendment (Repeal of Cashless Debit Card and Other Measures) Bill 2022 Bit of an oops there. The no doc opt for people in the 4 original sites who have been forced CDC program out begins October 4th now.

📌Important question up right now on the future of Basics legislative instruments. The instruments are available for change or alteration on 1st Oct. The issue is, will the 18mth timeline mean that Basics/CIM is to be extended for that time period. LNP trying to wedge ALP into making a decision on CIM right now when they already announced an 18mth consultation process yesterday. LNP looking for the media sound bite.

As expected, Anne Ruston already lying through her teeth. No one in Kalgoorlie HerveyBay/Bundaberg, Kununurra ever asked for the CDC. The only community that did take on the card was Ceduna & all but one of the Aboriginal leaders there withdrew support for it in 2016. Noel Pearson is a private citizen, who does not speak for people or communities forced onto the CDC, or anyone but himself and his institute. Ruston is fully aware that a new card is coming that does not involve Indue Ltd or private corps managing peoples lives.

I agree with concerns being expressed elsewhere that unless the new legislation ALP have indicated they are drawing up specifically protects ppl from being forced onto the VIM program, then we would have failed. ALP must prevent any chance of future involuntary income management. @JElliotMP @AmandaRishworth @Malarndirri19 @janet_rice

Despite some peoples fears, there is a choice being offered, if you want to stay controlled by gov you can, on a voluntary basis. What you can't do is force everyone else to be income managed for your sake.… #cashlessdebitcard #auspol On a personal note it is heartbreaking to see the impact of 15 years of income management up close- the dependency on Gov to manage life and income, the unwillingness to let go dependency and the fear of doing so...reminiscent of long term domestic violence survivors.

Greens in bid to scrap all welfare income management as government abolishes cashless debit card… 1st can I just mention for the 15000th time that the #cashlessdebitcard does not block tobacco, never has, so please get the facts right when you scribe about the CDC.

It will be a cold day in lala land before I allow Noel Pearson to determine outcomes for my son or 5.1M Australians. Had he once stood to end Basics Card CIM he'd have more credibility. The FRC program cannot be scaled up, it's only worked in the micro community environment. If FRC have now changed tune or want to retain CDC that is on them, something Noel Pearson and the 4 communities their model applies to will have to fight over and what comes next for Basics IM will require more inclusive opinion than his view alone. Noel does not represent ME.

Making an exception. Wiffens sub
1/ A DHS paid and preferentially appointed (by LNP ) position, she declines to mention she is part of Keith Pitts election team & a member of the National Party. Image " Staff on the ground" prior to roll out did NOT consult with any cardholders. Not once. Tudge sent a full tactical riot squad on the 9 locals protesting the card. At no time did ANY DHS session include people who opposed CDC. All community sessions were run by the ALP & AusG.

CDC legislation was about far more than just controlling spending. I think that is what @DavidPocock & others need to be very clear on rn. The exemptions provided Indue ltd from ACCC & ASIC consumer & data laws, the HR & civil, privacy & contract laws 'gotten around' all matter. A quick run through the Aus law council's last sub will inform on the multiple HR & other rights infractions, the legislation itself has one of 3 exemptions. Had it been made permanent as LNP wanted, we'd now have a permanent state of socioeconomic apartheid across the board.
