I have a few words about civil disobedience.
In France the grass roots movement "gilets jaunes" was quickly taken over by Russian backed activists with endless resources and the German Afd neo nazi , russian backed party.
Within 3 days , it ceased to be a grass roots demonstration. It became a well funded, engineered Far right attempt to destabilise democracy.

On the subject of Russia/Ukraine.
I see a great comparison with Britain/Ireland.
Firstly Russia planted people to then use them to clamour to be Russian.
As did/does Britain
When Ireland had a "vote" to be part of the UK, it was restricted to Landowners only.
It was restricted to Anglicans and Catholics who owned land (many of which were English landowners).It was a vote for 16% of the population .
