Okay, so the openly racist misogynist crowing from fauxgressives when HRC won-lost in 2016 wasn't cute but I also didn't properly backhand those who indulged in it so ... we're doing this.

To all you trying to pretend "Bernie-woulda," no. But I will explain why.
This election is going to be DOWN TO THE WIRE, but if Biden takes PA and it is likely he will, he's got it. Yeah, it's really annoying that some 66 million Americans looked at a complete idiot who has cost them well over 230k fellow Americans and decided they'd still vote for him
The level of anti-American sentiment you must have to vote for Trump is just terrifying to contemplate on so many levels but just skating past the Lovecraftian horror there we all knew that there are diehard Republican voters and that white supremacy is a thing.
I did previously think better of a lot of people but ... shame on me I guess. But here's the thing. Biden is a decent guy. Yes, he's not "exciting," like Obama, but he's not an epic nightmare of a person like Trump. There is nothing fundamentally bad about Biden.
So the issue with this election doesn't really have anything to do with policy or intelligence or making the best choice for the country ... it was about roughly half of America intentionally voting for the worst possible choice. Again, yikes. But moving on.
Trump made a point to "us vs. them" as often as possible. And he can't help it. He's the worst President in American history of COURSE he wants a civil war. But "us vs. them" only found purchase among the 66 million Americans who are apparently below the line on intelligence.
And that is because only an idiot can see Biden as objectionable relative to Trump.

Enter Bernie Sanders or as I call him, "f*cking BS."

According to f-ing BS he's super far left of left at the leftmost corner of the world. Sure, Jan.
Two things though:

1. BS isn't far left at all. I would actually argue he's far right.

2. BS is maybe not as objectionable as Trump but he's considerably more objectionable than Biden. This is why he lost the primaries. Both times. By a lot. In the popular vote.
BS's version of being "far left" is a HUGE issue. For one in his reckoning leftism is only about the economic component. He ignores and disregards as irrelevant issues of civil rights, he's made xenophobic anti-immigration speeches, and he ignores scientists on everything.
So, from my perspective obviously I hate him because he thinks women and scientists are bullshit and ... yeah, I'm kinda both of those things so ... f you too old man. But he also irks me because his supposedly "leftist" policies erase and disadvantage people of color.
Sorry, but I take my leftism like I take my whisky. Neat. And with some candied ginger, but that's just because of the red hair.

So just straight off the bat, BS isn't popular among Democrats because he's not a real liberal. His liberalism is white man "liberalism."
A lot of men love him because f women amirite, but he has really had to work to build up his coalitions and he only managed it through populism. Since the Democratic Party tends female and of colour BS' anti-"identity politics" and economic based "liberalism" was never gonna fly.
Liberals care about things like civil rights, the environment, and healthcare before they care about the economy so ignoring those in favor of the economy was only going to alienate liberal voters. Basically, BS wants to be super far left, but he's approaching it conservatively.
But that's just why he lost among liberals. He's not liberal, he hates us because we won't give him power, so he was never going to build a coalition of the people he wants to control.

The reason he would never win among conservatives is kind of the opposite.
BS calls himself a democratic socialist and you can argue as much as you like what exactly that means, what it means to him and what it means to you but your feelings on the matter are irrelevant unless you're super Spock and can mind meld the entire GOP simultaneously.
Liberals don't like BS because he's not liberal enough or at all on the issues we really care about but conservatives don't like him because on the primary issue they do care about he is actually super liberal.
I kind of get his strategy and among some of his supporters it did work. Bernie Sanders combined misogyny and racism with liberal economics. So yes, to a select portion of white supremacists this was super effective, and a few other people were fooled, but ...
... even with a super populist anti-woman anti-BIPOC message you can't just grab all the votes from economically conservative people when your entire platform is about super high taxes. And if you could even build support with that weird coalition what would you do with it?
But even beyond that there's huge portions of the American population even now who are Republican not because they're racist but because they or their parents escaped a communist/socialist regime.

Again, your feelings on what exactly "democratic socialism" means are irrelevant.
And again, I'm Hungarian. I'm now registered as a Democrat and I've never not voted blue, but when my grandparents were alive I did not register as a Democrat because while I knew I could probably explain it to my grandfather I didn't think my grandmother could handle it.
You can argue that either far right extremism is worse or that fascism is actually devoid of normal political ideology but that really doesn't matter to people who had to hide in jungles, be tortured, watch family be executed, or ride over a minefield on a bike.
A lot of Americans have that history or have that family history and while some like myself are actually super de duper far left quite a few others deeply fear the kind of regime BS conjures every time he calls himself a "socialist."
And then of course there's jerks who just want a reason not to vote for the Democrat.
The point though is as close as this election is BS didn't have a chance. Real liberals don't like him because he's dismissive of us despite not being that smart himself and conservatives don't want him because he's less open about his bigotry and uses the term "socialist."
People worked super hard on the Biden campaign but if BS had won the primary you would have seen most Democrats give up on the Presidential race and dedicate themselves to the down ballot races.

If BS were the candidate Trump woulda won. In. A. Landslide.

Okay yeah ... I'll be opening the library on AOC shortly. I stayed away because I hoped she'd learn how to govern, but she's far more of a far right asset than she has ever been a progressive. Yeah, I don't have a fraction of her platform but this is ridic.
Soooo ... this is going to be scattered because regardless of what the def totes fauxgressives and also feckin' QAnon will tell you, there is no massive Democratic cabal. Sorry.

So my complaints re: AOC do range. And I wanted to like her. I REALLY did. But ... oy vey.
I am a massive nerd and hard crushed on Madison when I read some of the Federalist Papers and realized he was very much for representatives looking like their population. Probably he himself really didn't mean that Congress should be about 14% black and half female but ...

Per a conversation with @nonsanaementis I want to do a little vaccine thread and also make a prediction.

I predict that in the late afternoon of Friday, October 30th, Trump's going to lie that a vaccine has passed all its trials and is going into production. This will be false.
Not only will it be a lie but it will be one of the few lies Trump tells which is not merely an exaggeration of his own warped perception of the world but something he genuinely knows to be untrue.

But he'll say it anyway in a last ditch attempt to get people to vote for him.
As I have said repeatedly here and elsewhere vaccines necessarily go through extensive trials. Even a fast-tracked vaccine must pass a number of regulatory hurdles before it may be approved.

AND THESE HURDLES NECESSARILY TAKE TIME.

Okay guys. So ... it's a thread. And honestly ... this is a story that I need to tell you. There is no point nor lesson to be learned this is not scientific this is just a moment in time wherein I've discovered - yet again and also to my horror - that humans are weird.
So I like pinterest. It's ... relaxing to look at impossibly gorgeous sculptures adorable cats, recipes including ingredients I can't source, clothing I will never be able to afford or fit into, and crafting projects I realistically will never do.
They also have some really purty weapons. But ... judge me all you want. When I want to unwind, it is my version of a bubble bath and glass of wine.

Sooooo .... during the Holocaust the third reich had two pretty awful policies which I want to say a few words about.

1. they made it basically illegal for Jewish people to have nationality
and
2. they were all about "living room" for Germans and used that to justify invasion.
The second part basically gave them the excuse to put Slavic peoples in labor camps and by labor I mean constant heavy lifting from dawn to dusk on a diet of about 600 calories. With that said, if you were sent to a labor camp you had a chance albeit small of survival.
Later on - and this sealed the deal in the Nuremberg trials - it became clear that *even* in the so-called labor camps Nazis were just wholesale murdering people. And I realize I'm not saying anything revolutionary or surprising here but this is where we get back to point 1.

You know how I'm always saying that Black Americans are the most loyal demographic for the Democratic Party? Well let's break that down further. This will give you a basic overview and ... yeah Black Americans voted overwhelmingly Democratic: pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016…
Here's more or less the same thing for the 2018 midterm elections. One again Black Americans voted OVERWHELMINGLY Democratic while White Americans were ... not so bright: pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2018…

Okay so this tweet from Leigh sort of sums up why fauxgressivism is super racist. This will be a thread but hopefully a short one.

First off, what Leigh is implying is more or less false. Harris' parents may have been educated but Warren's parents were privileged.
Warren's parents owned their own home and were able to buy Warren her own convertible by the time she was 16. She had a full ride to college plus enough money to pay out of pocket for her education. So not only was she middle class but she was upper middle class.
Leigh's claims that Harris was privileged because of her parent's education is ... pretty fucking bankrupt if you'll excuse the pun. So, if you know anything about academia you know it pays shit. It's especially bad at present but it's always been not great.
