Synapse Chain is the first sovereign execution environment dedicated to the development of cross-chain applications and primitives.
3/ By leveraging Synapse’s messaging system and bridge, Synapse Chain will become the organizational hub of all cross-chain activity.
Rather than deploy your dapp on ten different chains, why not deploy it on the bridge protocol that’s already connected to every chain?
4/ With Synapse Chain, a dapp’s business logic can be hosted on a single execution environment, while simultaneously being able to communicate with all other blockchains.
This means "multi-chain" transactions happen atomically, meaning directly on the chain itself.
5/ Synapse Chain is designed as an Ethereum-based optimistic rollup for the following reasons:

6/ Consistent with most rollup constructions, all Synapse Chain blocks will be produced by a sequencer and stored within a smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain.
Upon launch of the chain, gas will be paid in ETH, but the DAO may explore ways to tie usage of the chain to SYN.
7/ Another key feature of Synapse Chain is that it will be the home for all attestations made by the messaging system.
This means reduced complexity and lower gas costs. More importantly, it means that Synapse's messaging system can use Ethereum as its data availability layer.
8/ Along with Synapse Chain, the protocol is moving to its next iteration, Synapse V2.
9/ Generalized cross-chain messaging enables any arbitrary data to be sent across blockchains, expanding commercial use cases of cross-chain infrastructure to NFTs, smart contract calls, governance, and much more.
10/ Optimistic verification is a security model for verifying cross-chain messages that is far more secure than traditional externally-verified bridges. In optimistic verification, a network of off-chain actors coordinate to flag malicious transactions during a latency window.
11/ How does Synapse’s optimistic verification system secure itself?
Enter SYN — the economic incentive for the system’s off-chain actors to reach consensus on the validity of cross-chain transactions.
12/ Notaries are required to bond SYN to attest to outgoing transactions.
Similarly, guards have to stake SYN in order to prevent griefing attacks, a process that regular holders will be able to participate in via DPoS.
Dishonest behavior results in SYN being slashed.
13/ These core upgrades of the Synapse Protocol not only make possible the launch of Synapse Chain, but also make Synapse the most robust cross-chain communications platform in production.
Developers now have out of the box infra to securely deploy cross-chain dapps.
