It's 3am and I should go to bed so here's #ElRobot for my favorite episode, eps2.9_pyth0n-pt1.p7z
Mind awake, body asleep. Mind awake, body asleep. Mind awake, body asleep.
The suspense over Darlene is cheap but was effective in serialization.

On to the next one. #ElRobot for eps2.8_h1dden-pr0cess.axx go. This one I definitely remember being weak.
Oh though it's gonna be the map shot.
Politics is for puppets 🤣🤣🤣

#ElRobot for eps 2.7_init_5.fve ahoy. Here begins a quick dull stretch before the finale.
Though the ninth episode flashback to explain the season cliffhanger is cute.
Mr. Robot appearing on the video screen is a funny rule break. Makes no sense. Is delightful.

We gonna #ElRobot for eps2.6_succ3ss0r.p12 my dear bitches.
Love a ten second static shot of a sign. Also Trenton and Mobley. Especially Trenton pwning Mobley.
The callbacks to the first episode are sharp here.

It's been a while. Let's do #ElRobot for eps2.5_h4ndshake.sme. The reveal episode.
The slow reveal that this is a flashback is a nice low key reveal.
Also the Joanna screaming after being splattered with paint title card.

In a few, #ElRobot for eps2.4_m4ster-s1ave.aes. Aka the best episode opening.
The vintage USA title card and intro is sublime. As is Darlene's outfit.
The sitcom is also inspired but it's the commitment to period detail is what's delightful. Also the choice of the Full House font.

And now for #ElRobot eps2.3_logic-b0mb.hc. Looking forward to the next... four episodes quite a bit. (Then it takes a slightly slow phase before setting up the series-best episode.) This one has Dom/Whiterose and the return of Ollie. Teehee.
Code as chaos Magick.
Straight black title card. Boring.

Queue up eps2.2_init_1.asec, cause it's time for another #ElRobot thread
Fake cut back to the end of S1. Evil.
"I don't mean that in a cunty way" is good Darlene.

OK. Time for some #ElRobot on eps2.1_k3rnel-pan1c.ksd.
Romero offers a psychogeography of the fsociety arcade.
I like that Romero is a phreaker. Nice touch of old school.

All right. Here goes #ElRobot for Mr. Robot
I love the opening scene of this. Such a long, lingering scene of what's ultimately just theme. And a KLF homage.
This is so majestically slow. Just forcing us to be in the moment. And the Phil Collins is absurd and great.

I do believe it's time for some #ElRobot. In which shit gets way weirder and better.
Opening on Tyrell is a very "here is the trick I'm going to pull" opening.
The lighting levels in the arcade dropped precipitously between seasons. Usually lighting dark is lame but god this show looks good.

All right, let's wrap up @whoismrrobot Season 1 with an #ElRobot thread on eps1.9_zer0-day.avi. Written by @samesmail, and directed by him as well, as every episode going forward will be. This is a good thing, and the show gets increasingly visually interesting from here.
Nice to see Krista separate from Elliot.
This is such an odd place to open the finale. Completely out of nowhere, a seemingly random detail.

Let's aim to wrap up S1 of @whoismrrobot tonight. First up, eps1.8_m1rr0r1ng.qt #ElRobot
The big reveal, and a compelling exercise in making it seem less big.
Vintage technology as establishing shot, confirmed in dialogue after.

Well it sounds like Cerberus just sat on the remote and started up ep1.7_wh1ter0se.m4v so I guess I'd better go do #ElRobot
Darlene fucks a Republican to steal his gun. A great character beat and a nice opening speech for her.
One of my favorite tricks for TV shows to play is putting two characters who shouldn't be together in a scene. Darlene strolling in and knowing Angela already is one of the best. Seismic in ways we don't understand, and amazingly, casually underplayed.

All right, let's move on to better things and do #ElRobot for ep1.6_v1ews0urce.flv
OK let's make a pot of tea first. But.
Ok so I got distracted. Starting now.

All right. Starting shortly, the #ElRobot thread for the single worst episode of Mr. Robot: eps1.5_br4ve-trave1er.asf
Let's get this out of the way. Fridging Shayla is garbage. It's beneath this show.
There's no real nuance or analysis to be had here. It's just a mean decision rooted in lazy misogyny.

OK. Got a bit sidetracked, but sitting down to do #ElRobot for @whoismrrobot eps1.4_3xpl0its.wmv
This is less flashy than the previous episode, but with it forms a 1-2 punch that's clearly where the show announces that it is going to be an extraordinary trip.
Opening on Vera emphasizes his unexpected importance.

#ElRobot for @whoismrrobot S1e04, Daemons. The first virtuoso showpiece episode.
The opening does everything it needs to before dropping the title card over a black backdrop so it can drop the card as a surprise. Sharp trick.
The treatment of addiction is pretty strong. The narration overdoes it but the character work is strong.

All right, #ElRobot for S1e03 gearing up in a few. Debug.
Tyrrell is a very hard character to set up and he's done well. Again, pathetic douchebags are Esmail's specialty.
And Price makes his quiet debut.

Which makes this the start of #ElRobot s1e02, Ones and Zeroes.
One of three S1 eps directed by Esmail.
Start right with an absurd villain monologue from Tyrrell.

Thinking I'm gonna livetweet my Mr. Robot rewatch. Beginning S1e01 shortly.
For as brilliant an opening monologue and scene as this is, it's notable (as is often the case for early episodes) how this isn't quite the show it intends to be.
The big giveaway is the opening shot. It should be Price in that shot. But he doesn't exist yet.
