A source close to #Damascus has revealed that #Aleppo will be 'soon' receiving thousands of detainees death notifications. 'At least half of those deaths may have been executions', according to him. Those executed were held on terrorism charges or detained on the battlefield.
The source believes the notifications will top 30,000 within a year and possibly go northwards of 50,000. While many have been executed, loads have died of starvation, infections turning into sepsis for lack of medical care, and tuberculosis, among other diseases
The notifications, he said, will only account for the detainees who died in 'formal' detentions. The thousands who died in the various Security Branches are not included in his '30, 000+' estimate.
He estimates the number of detainees at 100K+.
The source is extremely doubtful that many 2011/2012 detainees will emerge alive. He refers to them as 'victims', especially since the bulk were peaceful protesters and media activists
'Some of them were only reported to be seen at a protest, while others weren't regular protesters, even. They could've only gone once, but unfortunately, that sealed their fate'
'This accounts for those who died in prisons or executed following a court' s death sentence. The numbers do not account for torture casualties. As far as I know, those die within a week of detention in security branches,' the source said.
He, however, is adamant that the bodies are 'being buried rather than cremated'. According to him, the 'incinerator' of #Saydnaya is a complex housing dozens of generators, pumps & heating systems to keep the power running.
The generators power large ventilators supplying air to hundreds of overcrowded cells. 'Even minutes of interruption could suffocate dozens. It happened on a few occasions before the new systems were installed,' he concluded.
