Talking with Erickson now regarding helicopter crash - very minimal info allowed to be released at this time. Told it’s a very experienced pilot during training flight.
No word yet on how the wreckage will be removed from the crash site. @JCSO_Oregon says it’s very steep and heavily forested.
Erickson notified authorities (@JCSO_Oregon, @ORStatePolice, Colestin Rural Fire District) of location using a tracker that is on all aircraft of theirs.
Cannot release any details of weather conditions at time of flight at this time. May be released later. Pilot took off from @flyMFRairport around 8:45 and crews began the search process yesterday afternoon.
The @FAANews will be here investigating later today. Erickson Chief of Staff tells me he cannot comment if NTSB will be here or not based on the #GovernmentShutdown. However, he said that is standard procedure that NTSB joins/works through FAA.
