In the old states of Germany (West Germany), the proportion of foreign inmates in Hamburg has since 2016 increased from 55% to 61%, 43% to 51% in Berlin, 29% to 33% in Lower Saxony, 26% to 30% in Rhineland-Palatinate, 44% to 48% in Baden-Württemberg, 35% to 41% in Bremen...
...28% to 34% in Schleswig-Holstein and from 24% to 27% the Saarland.
In North Rhine-Westphalia the share of foreign inmates has increased from 33% to 36% since 2015.
Since 2012, Bavaria registered an increase from 31% to 45%.
Three years ago, the the percentage of foreign inmates in Hesse had already been 44.1, which only climbed slightly to 44.6 percentage.
The same is true in East German states. For example, the share of foreign prison inmates in Saxony increased by 104% since 2016.
An older survey of German jails had shown that 19% of all prison inmates in Germany are Muslim while only representing 5-6% of the total population (in some prisons ~40% of the inmates attend the Friday prayer): huffingtonpost.de/entry/muslime-…
Consider that these statistics do not take into account people with a migration background who possess a German passport. The share of ethnic Germans in German jails is very likely even smaller than the above statistics suggest.
