If the @realDonaldTrump administration or members of Congress really wanted fewer asylum seekers, they’d work to end the massive sale of American guns to Central America/Mexico and reduce our own demand for narcotics through harm reduction policies. #FakeNationalEmergency

Why don’t they? Well, mostly because a few powerful people want to stay super rich.

"Seventy per cent of guns recovered by authorities in Mexico, for instance, were originally sold in the U.S.—most of them in Texas, California, and Arizona, according to a Government Accountability Office report." newyorker.com/news/news-desk…

Meanwhile, opioid deaths in the U.S. rage on at record levels (now the leading cause of death for Americans), and the prison and immigration detention system/s (the largest in the world) unjustly and abusively detain human beings.

But because intelligent policy solutions for these problems endanger the profits of the few, thousands of lives are just collateral damage.

We can change anytime we want, y’all.
