/ Thanks @PrestelandP for having me at the #familyofficeforum to chat about AI; 30 minutes felt too short! Great convo with @tobyruckert @Yipinggoh @ArnaudBonzom #robgarrett
/ Definitions are an important place to start; too much sci-fi, not enough specificity on what use cases are well-suited/ not well-suited to AI; Broad vs Narrow
/ for example @googlephotos AI does an amazing job categorizing pictures of my kids, but would be challenged to make a wedding slideshow highlighting important moments in said kids' lives
/ AI isn't magic, rather acceleration of techniques enabled by new availability of data and processing power
/ we believe AI will eventually reshape all industries, the way the internet is disrupting and reshaping old school businesses today
/ so where does that leave humans? Will we be freed from tedious tasks, empowered to work on more complex, judgement and empathy required work? Or is it a dystopian future where AI essentially reinforces existing societal power structures in invisible and more efficient ways?
/ education as key part of helping humans/politicians/ civil servants understand the power of this technology, and act to put appropriate governance and safeguards on it's usage
/ TLDR; AI just a tool, albeit a powerful one; merely amplifies society's choices and values
