Now it's the Popeye stand-off missile! Not SPICE 2000 glide bomb kit! #IndiaStrikeBack The 1,360 kg solid rocket motor powered missile has a 360 kg penetrating warhead. tribuneindia.com/news/nation/-d…

I tweeted about the Popeye missile earlier in the context of the Rocks weapon displayed at #AeroIndia2019

IDP Sentinel members can read about the Popeye missile at sites.google.com/site/idpsentin…

If only 4 IAF M2Ks crossed the LoC as reported by The Hindu, assuming each M2K carried just one 1,360 kg (3,000 lb) Popeye missile than the 4 craters in the forest would account for the entire IAF attack being compatible with 340 kg (750 lb) blast/fragmentation warhead! :-(

The problem with the Popeye is that it has to be flown into the target by a pilot in the strike force - launching or another aircraft. It's not easy to visually fly a missile into a target at night time. So let's hope it wasn't the Popeye!

Unlike Spice kitted bombs, which can revert to GPS based homing, the Popeye is meant for use in a GPS denied target. Without electro optical lock on the Popeye would have to be flown to the target.
