To disabuse Rajiv Malhotra from his usual ignorance, let me quote what his proud Hindu, Subhas Chandra Bose, had written on his “apologetic with inferiority complex” Ram Mohan Roy in “Indian Struggle”. Thread follows:
“Ram Mohan Roy stood out as the apostle of religious revival. He urged a return to the original principles of Vedantism and for a total rejection of all the religious and social impurities that had crept into Hinduism in later times.” pp. 20-21, Indian Struggle
He also advocated an all-round regeneration of the social& national life&the acceptance of all that is useful &beneficial in the modern life of Europe. Raja Ram Mohan Roy therefore stands out against the dawn of the new awakening in India as the prophet of the new age pp. 20-21
Clearly then Subhas Chandra Bose was strongly influenced by Ram Mohan Roy. Logically speaking he may have then been led the slippery slope that Rajiv Malhotra accuses Ram Mohan Roy of leading many Bengalis to. But then how can Bose be the proud Hindu that Malhotra claims he was?
It also beats me how a proud Hindu can be so laudatory of an apologetic & with inferiority complex Bengali. Logic isn’t the strong point of Rajiv Malhotra for sure, but this just shows his outright ignorance. He hasn’t read the writings of the man he calls proud Hindu.
It was this ignorance that Ram Mohan Roy sought to dispel. Bengali renaissance produced Subhas Bose and Aurobindo Ghose. A regressive ignorant distorted version of Hinduism produced Rajiv Malhotra.
This isn’t the first time I have noticed Rajiv Malhotra’s propensiry to write without reading. He had glorified Nirad C. Chaudhuri, by approvingly quoting him on Hinduism. We had shown Chaudhuri to be a Hindu phoebe quoting Chaudhuri’s writings. Abominable.
