The #HTT40 was last in the news when it successfully recovered from its 2 turn maiden spin on Nov 9, 2018. Despite the breakthrough, in Jan 2019, the @IAF_MCC based on a review of its @HALHQBLR contracts, told the MoD that HTT-40 certification was unlikely before 2021.
Alas! The @IAF_MCC was being overly optimistic because there are 2 things that HAL does consistently - Make profits through wanton customer overcharging and screw up all its projects! With additional procurement of Pilatus BFT scuttled by MoD at the behest of @HALHQBLR...
IAF new pilot training is likely to be disrupted once again. The disruption maybe worse this time than when @HALHQBLR made HPT-32 trainers started crashing with gut wrenching regularity forcing the @IAF_MCC to junk the aircraft.
The reason why the crisis maybe more severe now than before is because the Kiran Basic Jet Trainer is starting to cough its last after many life extensions, plagued by engine problems. My efforts to elicit @HALHQBLR comments on the status of the #HTT40 didn't draw a response.
