UK Parliament will be flying the rainbow flag this weekend and taking part in Pride in London today. To celebrate we asked our colleagues what Pride means to them. #PrideinLondon

"Pride is important to me as an ally as I can show my support for the LGBT+ community. Pride makes me think about the last year, what I have done to be an good ally and what I can take forward to continue to be the best ally I can be."
@Nerys_d

"After hiding my sexuality at work for more than a decade, since joining @UKParliament it’s important to me to shout out loud and proud that I am a bi woman working here, in the hopes that others see that it’s an open, friendly place to be themselves."
@Forestwytch

"I think it’s important that UK Parliament is seen participating at Pride. Not just for our staff but for the wider community and to set an example to other Parliaments."
@Piker_79

"I do Pride, although much outside my comfort zone, to celebrate how far we’ve come and to promote the continuation of social acceptance for future generations. Pride's important to me because I am fighting for equality in our community and for UK Parliament."
@ItsEmmaSte

"This is my first time marching in any Pride Parade. I wanted to march because it does look like incredibly good fun and also because after hiding who I was for so long I am sure I will get a sense of release to be visible and proud of myself."

"Pride is one of those rare occasions when communities across the country and the world join together in one voice to celebrate our diversity and humanity, and to stand against the prejudice and violence that still exists."
